My contribution to the team feels stronger. Less people allows everyone to shine more.
No raid schedule. PUG or deal with a small roster to manage.
No FPS slowdowns in 5 man as opposed to 30 people in a flex raid who are melting the server.
No loot drama. Whats mine is mine.
The mounts I earn aren’t “farmable” after the fact making my work feel more rewarding going into the future.
Now I have 2k and 3k mount recolors!
Far more interesting. A dungeon run can be 20-40 minutes of nonstop action versus wiping on a boss 30 times in one spot.
Seasonal dungeon rotations!
No weird politics when the “heroic raid” picks people for the “mythic raid.” (10 people get benched.)
Take it or leave it content. I focus on the dungeon I want to focus on instead of being led around by a raid leader.
I just don’t see why anyone would raid anymore. If they brought back mythic 10 man I might, but they would have to change the raid mechanics etc. I don’t think they will do it.
Mythic raiders are, by far and away, the absolute smallest population of wow players.
No one really “wants to raid” or “enjoys raiding” anymore which is why blizzard puts mandatory gear like the reshi wrap boots behind raid bosses to force people to raid.
Puzzling cartel chips to boost wow token sales as well as raiding metrics.
That sort of thing.
The raid is basically something that developers want players to do but players don’t want to, so raiding largely becomes a bribe fest:
Get the best gear in the game by raiding
Make tons of gold from selling raid boosts to players who want the gear for mythic plus.
I do both. Each has its ups and downs, but I wouldn’t really be interested in the game anymore if both weren’t an option to complete at the same time throughout the season. I like that I can do a big raid and have fun, but break into small groups to do dungeon diving. I also like the world quests and events aspects of the game. I pretty much do it all.
