Why I left FF14 for WoW

Kinda like all the I’m quitting wow to go play FF threads?

Thanks for replying to this point by point. It’s fairly clear this person has never played FFXIV.

Yeah. There’s a lot of people coming on the forums with all these gripes about 14 that are just regurgitating what they heard/read. It’s kinda getting silly.

Yes, people shouldn’t spam the forums with any topic.

That’s a good thing, the main draw of raids is the boss battles

And the fights are balanced around that, because…

Almost every fight has a dps check that cannot be cleared if you have to spend much of the fight ressing people. The ones that don’t are all of the lowest difficulty, you may as well be comparing it to LFR

Subjective opinion. With a greater focus on instanced content, it’s actually fun to spam dungeons in FF14

Because they want you going into raids for hardcore content, not dungeons with the numbers cranked up

Crafted gear has never compared to the same tier of Savage and Extreme gear

This is incorrect. All gear binds to you after you gain spiritbond points while wearing it. And you gain spiritbond by doing literally anything besides just putting it on

100% cosmetic items

level your retainers

Unless you’re a hoarder this is literally a non-issue. Players have massive inventory space + retainers for even more space by default

  1. not every piece of gear looks good in metallic colors, and 2. as said before, level your retainers

not every game needs PvP. if that’s what you want there’s an entire market for it separate from FF14

What are you even complaining about here? The way the different zones look? FF14’s zones are gorgeous what are you on about?

because the world is massive, to the point that different regions have their own subzones divided by loading screens. if you aren’t learning the layout of zones just because you’re teleporting everywhere that’s a you problem

so? there are places you can go and places you aren’t intended to go. invisible walls are way simpler a concept and execution than the fatigue zone

there absolutely is, because fights are designed around boss mechanics and spectacle. the individual player rotation needs to be slowed down and made more methodical so that more focus can be spent on dealing with different mechanics that can and will kill you for screwing up even a little. though, judging by your previous comments I guess you haven’t once even set foot in Savage content

no one says there is no toxicity, but there is certainly far less than in WoW

You’re gonna get the final fantasy defense force angry at you, their game is so good that they have to constantly be active in other MMO forums instead of actually playing the game it seems.

thousand yard stare at Couerls in Upper La Noscea turning at the exact moment I jumped off a ledge

You do realize you can play more than one game, right? If people are gonna dish out complaints, they have to at least give proper ones and not word of mouth complaints.

lol on their transmog. Its far better. You can actually dye your clothes for one thing. Yeah its not totally unlimited amounts of outfits but do we really need all that?

Slight agree.

Japans developing studios have a problem getting developers who are interested and experienced in doing raid content. As for the dance with no dps - most bosses are basically this in MMORPGs anyhow. Very few actually have a hardcore dps check.

Somewhat disagree.

There are various ways of leveling another job in Final Fantasy, you are not just stuck with daily roulettes. They have their own rogue-like content as well as one example, and you likely skipped a lot of side quests as you leveled up your main job through the MSQ.

But with the amount of jobs you are very likely run out of stuff anywho.

Mythic+ sucks anyway.

Atleast crafting is useful.

What is the best dye?
Agreed with all the cosmetics, disagree on the mounts and “weird” services.
WoW have similar weird services, race change, name change.
The mounts, as opposed to WoW, are not better or worse quality than the mounts you can get in game. Compare the quality of a WoW store mount to that of the quality of a in game grinded mount, it is absolutely horrible.
Same can kinda be said of the cosmetics you can buy, it is usually silly stuff such as bathing suits or it is NPC clothing. But I gotta stick with my ideals here, cosmetics in a store sucks, I don’t care if it is free to play or sub-based.

Yup, it is extremely outdated here. WoW transmog used to work like that too. I hope they change it in FFXIV as well at some point.

PvP does not belong in a MMORPG anyway, unless it is PvP only. Mixing PvP and PvE only ends up ruining class balance.

Seems the same to me until you get flying - a pain in the butt to navigate… ever tried Zuldazar?

You need to attune to the crystals first. Did someone skip MSQ? in expansion to get flying you also need to explore every corner of the map to gather aether. No rep grinding, no purchasing, just go out and explore the world and get flying through that and doing MSQ.

Agreed.

BIG AGREE

People are generally nicer in dungeons, in public, global chats such as /shout and Novice Network. Game does have drama queens and overly sensitive, hardcore liberalists that have mental breakdowns simply because you utter the name: “Asmongold”. But those are, luckily, few and far inbetween.

Yes, hardest content will have toxic players, of course.

Disagreed.

I love how blizzard asks the community to do this and yet no one knows about it,
Maybe they do this to give that person a little extra push when leaving. You know expose that person who is thinking about leaving to the overly toxic community to make sure they never want to come back lol.

They’re both good games in their own ways. Shocking, I know.

This is a huge positive for FF14 for me.

I think mostly this is a valid point, actually.

A lot of WoW players rave over FF now, because its…new. But end game? WoW is pretty much the only MMO on the market with any sort of end game that isn’t a drag. Encounter complexity, raid turn out, etc…

I think WoW can add a lot of the stuff in that makes FF appealing to players.

I don’t think FF can add what makes WoW appealing.

I often play the ‘other’ WoW (World of Warships), and there you get to experience true contempt/bias against the playerbase… If you aren’t playing a Russian unit, you get the worst end of the deal… Pure and simple… So when I think Blizzard is making a bad decision with the game, I only need to play World of Warships, or World of Tanks for an hour to set me straight again…

because alot of it is true. You don’t hear it often as the mob mentality of the FF14 group will hound anyone who attacks

Like I said prior, GCBTW meme exists for a reason. The points he made, however, had a lot of flaws, thus he was called out.

noted about the meme but you do know that’s one of the tactics the FF fanbase does when people criticize: Find a flaw and use it as a dismissal

It can be said about the Classic crowd as well. They are actually just as bad from the last month on there. Make a complaint? “Go BaCK tO ReTaiL” and then insult people.

I blame people in general, not just a game. People like to rip on those who have different opinions sadly.
