Given blizzards vast resources it is rather disappointing that we went for months without flying or any true change within the Shadowlands experience. The covenants over time became redundant. The quests were often buggy during busy hours and the reward “anima” was so seldom it felt like I was scrounging the streets for penny’s.
The raid “Castle Nathria” was fun at first, but the server I was on was east coast. So the times were completely off. The only way to change that was to transfer my characters, which in turn would cost more money. Apparently checking server times is important.
Pvp compared to other games is incredibly lack luster. It felt like the classes were not balanced and blizzard was too afraid to give certain classes power spikes. Why does chaos bolt not one shot people? Why does ambush not hit like a truck? It feels like blizzard is scared within pvp to give players true power. And the zones did not promote pvp experience like Dalarans sewers for example.
In turn looking back the whole expansion felt like one giant beta test. Certain classes had advantages within the maw which incentivized me to reroll classes in order to gain mobility. Tanks which are sought for had one optimal covenant for mythic. Why would you guys create a system where one covenant was optimal for a spec that is sought out after? The logic behind covenants is actually stupid. It should of been a purely aesthetic, yet you tied it to player power and viability.
The entire game needs to be gutted. Classes, zones, races, specs and servers. Gut the entire game and create something modern for the 2021 player. All in all this game could be great but its not worth 15$ when there are free to play games that offer more engaging and up to date content.
Please add paragraphs. It makes it easier to read a long post.
I disagree that free to play games are more engaging than WoW. To me, they are not as it’s very apparent that if you pay, you win.
There is no skill, no talent, no point to pay to win.
Ever.
Anyway, be well. Hope you find fun wherever you go.
Except selling actual player power and powerful items not available in game…but yeah, lets not worry about what the other games do to try to make your point
I mean, $15 a month for the hours and hours of entertainment I get every month is some good value.
I’m personally enjoying SL
Some people are too caught up in systems not being exactly how they, in their infinite wisdom would’ve implemented them that they let it suck all the joy out of the game for them.
I play necro elemental, I’d like to play venthyr resto off spec - but I can’t, I can either dwell on that fact or just make the best of the game as it stands and find my enjoyment through how it currently exists.
Well, frankly, that is a “you” issue. The merest google would show you that Blizzard has multiple data centres and its a good idea to pick the one nearest you if you are after lower ping. Not every game operates on a megaserver (thank gawd).
While that would be lovely, it would be rather extreme. You say that the classes were not balanced - that’s not a way to balance them.
Aye, Druids are definately more fun to play down in that mess of a zone. While if you are a mage and don’t have a bag full of invisibility potions, you are in for a whole load of woe.
I agree, turn off the servers, leave just Classic and TBC to have some old WoW alive, and do a complete plastic surgery of the game. Nobody would be upset about that I guess… (
The systems are implemented poorly. We have a system, within a system within a system. And its time gated to boot! I think you are one of 3 ranged specs that aren’t forced into Night Fae mind you. I think the other is Arcane and one of the hunters. They’ve made Soulshape such a game changer for slow classes that despite me wanting to go Necro, i cant. Raiding, its invaluable. PVP, invaluable. They need to play their own game.
I think frost mage is venthyr too? Anyway, I digress.
The covenant are imbalanced agree, having covenants bis for 1 spec but not another is bad design, having different covenants bis for the same spec but different content is bad design.
I didn’t say I agreed with their design philosophy but unfortunately it is what it is, people just gotta accept that. They’re not going to can covenants after all the work they’ve put in. Atleast not this soon.
Dwelling on the fact you’re forced to choose between content/specs to be bis is just going to make most people harbour resentment towards the game and devs. Just gotta focus on the part of the game we enjoy, or hang up the boots.
It’s crappy, but I’m very much a glass half full type of guy
Hmm except in this situation it’s the losers who pay. The winners (those who can) get paid to carry the losers (those who can’t). They don’t pay to win, they pay because they can’t win.
I’m with you. Off to Elder Scrolls online. It isn’t even the money. It’s that there’s nothing to do for the casual player. My subscription lapses in 20 minutes for the first time in many years. We might check out the next expansion, but this was… not good … for us casuals.
I agree with you, it is a good deal on the surface. Unfortunately the time to repeat everything endlessly over 15 toons isn’t fun and sure isn’t content.
I don’t mind A grind - I’ve earned sarab lord and 100 reps yada yada, not casual by any means , It’s just not having fun grinding something annoying and stupid just to play the part I want too repeatedly, if it was dynamic in some way maybe? But it’s just the same boring WQs and another progress bar for factions we just learned about and tacitly care for.
Good value isn’t charging by the month to clip the yard with a pair of tweezers, please Blizz get a mower and end my 15 year beta test.
PS can we just get a PVP closet with BIS across the board for everyone and just award tmogs and achieves so anyone on any toon can pvp if they are able. You know let people play - you might not have to nerf every 5 minutes to tweek.
I was enjoying WoW and Shadowlands. I started the game about 18 months ago and I enjoyed it.
Then I started playing FFXIV 3 weeks ago. I had a lightbulb moment. THIS is why people in wow are upset. I get the anti borrowed power thing especially right now. And the complaints about toxicity.
There is a lot wrong with the game when you start looking at other options.
You are an extreme minority, people have alts sure. I have 5x 60s myself, but damn man, 15?
It’s designed to give people the illusion of progress. If you zoomed to max renown/ilvl fast one 15 toons the poor guy that plays 1 toon is going to run out of content so quick.
And any catch up alt mechanics if not handled properly devalues the achievements of mains imo.
PvPers like gear progression too, this takes away a big part of what makes an mmorpg, again imo.
I’ve got quite abit of experience in ffxiv,
I think it’s a good game.
Being only 3 weeks into the game is the honeymoon period.
Are you at endgame content yet?
you’re no where near as familiar with ffxiv as you are WoW - it’s obvious to me that when you’re more familiar with anything, a game, a policy, a procedure etc etc you pick up on the small details much better than if it’s unfamiliar to you, you’re able to foresee problems with greater ease.
All they are is a way for Blizz each expansion since Legion to take classes/specs that they broke and give them back stuff so they can be fixed in order to break them the next expansion.
These systems were put in to deal with the button bloat of the past . Button abilities are spells you can key bind .
If you look at things like Artifact weapons , Azerite gear and Soul binds . They are passive abilities that don’t need to be key bound .
How does making systems using passives solve the problem of button bloat ?
