I was reminded today after a 2 year break why i despise Retail and Lfg/lfd feature.
joined first group 4 players same server nothing was said or pulled 2 minute’s later kicked no reason.
Second dungeon Rfd didn’t realise Tank was skipping trash, they went straight to boss missed fight next second kicked.
I can’t wait for classic and single server’s where bad behaviour/attitude’s actually hurt you.Kicking people for the most petty reasons doesn’t encourage any new returning player too stick around the toxic behaviour that lfd/lfg has created has destroyed and sense of server community because it carry’s no penalty if you are rude/abusive or steal loot anymore.
It’s so true wow isn’t really a MMO anymore just spam with randoms be rude behave badly and move on with zero consequence ruined this game.

Ahh…I never grow tired of the classic wow posts. I get this odd feeling that most of the folks wearing these rose colored glasses, never played vanilla. Could just be me thinking why I wouldn’t want to play it again, after 15 years. Old wow is old wow, it won’t be “better” or worse than BFA. It’s just old wow, again. Some of the mechanics that we have now are obviously not in vanilla…ahem…I mean “classic”, but I think that nostalgia or hipster wave will wear off after a few months.

You’d think people like that aren’t going to play Classic?

I was talking about lack of community and how being toxic actually had consequence’s on your server way too misread my post.
Not as badly as now where your name and reputation means nothing, and there was far more community and accountability than with the lfg/lfd system.

Until the trolls changed their names. Or they realized that it took the system two weeks to do anything about obnoxious people, and even then, they found loopholes to it.
The rose tint is too dark.

Played since BC, I’ve been randomly kicked maybe once or twice but it wasn’t random, I wasn’t playing well. So when people say they were kicked for no reason I have a hard time believing it.

I mean yeah, it’s gonna start with rude players, then bad players, then people who cannot top the dps chart. The pickiness would only go stronger. Sooner or later you might find yourself only playing with close friends or very selected fews. If that’s the case, then I don’t see too much difference between Classic and BFA.

It definitely wasn’t as bad as I remembered back in the day. Back then you had a rep and if you decided to do something scummy or just be a jerk across the board you’d better have had a guild to back you up or money to change your name and pray nobody notices. Because at that point good luck finding a group for anything.
Now it’s if your name pops up in that vote to kick you can pretty much kiss your run goodbye.

Modern WoW does many things better than it did in '04, or '08, or '10. Let’s not pretend that the early years didn’t have the whole “tight-knit community and a reputation that followed you for good or ill” working in its favor.
Maybe classic will recapture that. Maybe not. But don’t claim that what happened didn’t happen.

It’ll still mean nothing, I don’t care if someone is toxic if they are good. I’ve played with ridiculously toxic people, the kind that should probably have a youtube video dedicated to them lol but we got our objectives complete.
It will be the same, toxic people going from one version to another. Similar to if someone has bedbugs in one place, when they move, they take them to the other.

I wonder why Blizzard has waited almost 15 years to release a patch to control player behavior. It’s not like Ion and co don’t get blamed for every other bad experience in the game.
And let’s not give too much credit to the almighty Classic “blacklist”. Let’s not forget that this list will not be posted, moderated, or controlled in any manner. Let’s not forget that servers with a large streamer will be much more likely to manipulate the system. Do you really think people like Soda or Asmond and their lackeys are worried about consequences for bad behavior?

Some of the most powerful people I remember on my server were actually some of the most toxic trolls who abused others all day long, and they were never held accountable.

HELP! FOURMS! I was kicked from a normal because I didn’t know what I was doing! HELP!

No, there wasn’t. If you were good at your class, your bad behavior was ignored/overlooked.
Even in Vanilla, pursuit of pixels trumped social mores.

I don’t think Classic will fix your issue. They are using layering in Classic so whole connected community won’t be as apparent as it was before.

Yes.
In classic you will beg for a group in Stormwind, for 30 minutes, only to then be kicked.
So it will be SO much better!
