I have spiders,scorps, and my favorite chops but everytime I go for dragon when I want to use Tame Beast it says wrong target so I am not able to tame flying beasts? I wanted Jade the victim of nightmare but I had to kill him because I couldn’t tame. Is there anyway I can tame beasts like that or it is just impossible? i am 36 lvl forsaken hunter

I have always wished we could tame some form of dragon in the game. When I first started back in Wrath, I tried to tame one of the fairie dragons in Ashenvale.
Right now we can only tame wind serpents and dragonhawks.

Not all beast in WOW can be tamed and this is one of them. If you want a tameable “flying” pet than to to petopia, they have all hunter pets info for starting hunter.

Most are classified as humanoid and that would make them “slaves” same thing goes for druid forms.

Dragons are not classified as beasts. They are Dragonkin, with some of the qualities of beasts (skinable) and some of the qualities of humanoids (intelligence).

there are actually several dragon models in game that are marked as a beast, and sadly untameable.

It was also Faerie Dragons for me, and until they let us use the book for Hippogryphs I was pretty sad about not being able to tame those fluffy flybois (on my main, obvs not this levelling alt). Even now there’s some you can’t tame in Feralas and I can’t see why - they’re smarter? Or something?
TBH I’ve tried to tame a couple druids. “LOOK at that purty CAT!”
The hunter boss in Underbog tamed a druid, so it is possible in practice, it just isn’t ethically possible.
The way I see it, there’s two factors that determine if something is tameable. First is sentience. That means no dragonkin and no druids, as they are intelligent creatures, which makes taming them a form of slavery. On that note, I’m curious if you can tame the Dakini gorillas of Zuldazar that are intelligent due to Kajamite, never tried. EDIT: Also technically tauren, pandaren and worgen are beasts, as well as their racial offshoots like taunka etc. Well, even humans are beasts, I guess. This all doubles down on sentence being a no no for taming.
Second is how feral or alpha it is. A beast may be simply too wild to tame, or too much of an alpha to ever be subservient. Some subversions to this, however, such as King Bangalash, the fierce alpha predator of Stranglethorn Vale.
Meanwhile us warlocks have no qualms over enslaving demons to do our bidding yet we still have just the same pets we’ve had since vanilla and a handful of skins for them. You hunters have no idea how good you have it with your new pet families every expansion and rare unique pets to hunt down etc

I believe you are conflating the term beast with the scientific definition of an animal. You would be quite wrong, they are not the same thing.

If Blizzard makes ‘tomb of dragonkin’ or something similar, then we may tame dragons(not cloud serpents. They are not dragonkin)
