Why I am playing less

Hi! Making this post in the hopes that it will be a counterpoint to the claims that everyone is quitting over GDKPs. I’m playing a lot less WoW:SoD right now and I’ve never played a GDKP. I have no stake in them being banned. STV is ultra unfun. Gearing is ultra unfun. Levelling to 40 was unfun.

I also never had any intention of ever stepping in MC ever again, so if p2 is bad then oh well. SoD was a great time for me when I played. I’m going to spend a little bit of that time in retail. A little bit doing some extra work for my career. A little playing some other games and that’s okay.

Unlike what the vocal minority would have you believe. I did not leave because you banned a GDKPs. My friends who are playing less have never run GDKPs. The 3 people I know who ran GDKPs are playing just as much. I don’t know.

I know you won’t like to hear this but the bean counters at blizzard are not going to notice.

They don’t care about click through rates and what not. They make money from your sub and the stuff you buy.

Unless the flow of money changes they won’t notice.

They do seem to read these boards, but unfortunately your honest concern won’t get heard because it is going to get diluted.

Blizzard really likes to think of themselves as community builders and if they had honest examples of how this affected people they may act.

GDKP might not come back… maybe it will. Who knows.

I do know that there are ways to speed up a solution. They may offer an alternative that is appealing that supports the continuity of a raid and encourages people to do it again and again!

Haha. God I hope not, but maybe. Just nothing really drawing me or my people in right now. Some fluttered out during level, some got to 40 and just didn’t feel like it, others got into new games. It’s an all of the above kinda deal for me, but my char is actually so close to bis on just a few runs of gnomer that I will probably help guildies here and there as repayment.

While i thought GDKP banning was a good idea, thinking of it now; it was the only reason I even logged into my alts and did raids. Now there’s no point and they just rot. This helps explain the server drought and dead locations compared to p1.

I think you are missing my point. Most people I know who have stopped playing have never done a gdkp and would have left ban or not.

Almost as if GDKP was a player made solution to bots, lagging playerbase and a fair pug loot system as guilds didn’t want to do old content that was slowly ruined by blizzards refusal to ban rmt. Hmmm.

People quit WoW all the time. Populations ebb and flow. Thats nothing new to MMO’s in general.

SoD is quite successful - that wont change even if you and all your friends quit and never resub.

Definitely. I guess I should have just included a tl;dr with: “SoDs P2 population losses are not mainly due to the gdkp ban like members of this forum would have the devs believe”

STV is literally the only pvp i like.

All aboard the murder train!

Gdkp was bulk money laundering for rmt buyers.

So you are mad about GDKP ban. Got it.

Well, that’s a relief.

Who would have thought that a gated, forcefully-slowed version of classic that

  • imported crap from retail,
  • unbalanced things every few weeks with a new flavor-of-the-week,
  • forced everyone to do one raid over and over every three days for months,
  • spam dungeons to level effectively,
  • had buggy and boring PVP events,
  • had all the “discoveries” figured out on the first day of each phase,
  • provided very little new content
    … would have burn out?

But the good thing is that by dragging classic out on a schedule like this, most people will stay subbed, and it is all about the money, because they are a small, indie company.

Who would have thought?

L25 was actually some of the most fun I have had in my time playing WoW. L40 is some of the least.

I can’t think of a time I have had less fun playing wow than doing STV. Maybe my 15th molten core during classic relaunch? Playing alliance on whitemane during p2?

Warlords of Draenor was a better experience.

Hey Guys!

Did you know that GDKPs are also a great source of Vitamin D? They also reduce your chances of a heart attack and can lower your cholesterol!

You mean Wrath?

You mean every WoW patch ever?

You mean optimally? Which is also the case in every existing version of the game? Because I would have left this point alone if you were on Crusader Strike or something, I’d get it, but your toon is on Chaos Bolt.

It couldn’t have been that bad lol.

It took Warlocks several days just to find the Meta rune in Phase 1, and there was half as many runes to find in Phase 2.

Stop making things up.

In terms of leveling? WoD is arguably the best leveling experience in the entire history of WoW outside of Classic and set the standard of how to start off an expansion, so a statement like this doesn’t mean much.

If you’re talking about literally anything else besides the raw leveling and questing of toons through the zones, then this is a straight up  post and you’re huffing copium dioxide.

Then dont play?

These gdkp posts gettin wild.

Wahhh i dont want to level to 40. Wahhh i dont want to raid MC.

Go away. Jesus christ some real weirdos on the forums lately.

You’re playing less because there’s no Death Knights in SoD that you can play! xD
