I’m not saying they’re actually complex. I’m saying that they are generally more complex then Hunter. And specifically, BM hunter, which has always been one of the best pick up and play classes.
Also Affliction being rarely meta is pretty funny as the spec has been so meta it’s completely broken at points in the past lol
Hunters are easy to play, always have been. Pets tank for you, live through almost any punishment, and require absolutely no upkeep. In the current content, they also take no sanity damage and are unaffected by sanity-related things.
Druids are currently populated because multiboxers are making five of them instead of just one.
In addition to the great points already said – ease of play, every race has one, only ranged weapon user, people like pets – hunter also gives a lot of very obvious customization. Pets were the closest thing to transmog for the first half of the game’s life.
In BC there was a broken affliction build for a while that was mega damage for basically pressing shadowbolt. Wrath Affliction was pretty strong as well.
I can’t remember specific periods outside of that (i mained it during BC because i was a child doing big damage for little work… wait i’m a dh now…) but until mythic + it was always a pretty strong contender and depending on scaling on of the top DPS. Often though you’d see Destro or Demo ending up being more DPS so why would you run Aff when you could do more.
I mained a bm hunter for 4 years. Only recently have I branched out more. Currently, my main dps is destro lock and my main tank is prot warrior. I play both classes near equally, saving my hunter for farming herbs and ores.
I dropped hunter because it was so easy that it became boring. BM hunter is a simplistic spec with only 4 main attacking abilities. The spec is easy to pick up and allows for easy dps. And as for the other 2 specs, both are barely viable currently. I’ve never enjoyed survival, as I find it to be very slow, sluggish, and even more boring than BM. As for MM, it used to be fun in Legion, but blizzard nerfed it into boredom as well. A majority of hunters play BM, likely due to its easy and rewarding gameplay. I stopped because I found it boring, but others still play it because they find it engaging. Another reason may come down to fantasy. One of the most iconic fantasy characters is Legolas from LOTR. He’s an elven archer. The idea of a fantasy archer / ranger is something many people, even those who aren’t well versed in fantasy, can recognize and identify with. So, in the end, the 2 main reasons would likely be the easy-to-pick-up playstyle and the archer fantasy of the class.
Sorry for the block of text. I just got a lot to say on this.
Exactly. Not only that, people love saying, “Arcane is 2 button mash” but in reality if that is how you play Arcane then you have no clue how the spec works because it is greatly dependent on timing all your CD’s with arcane power and other procs as well as mana management etc.
Dude neither mage or warlock are that complicated. They’re both resource management classes. Stacking 100 buffs before combustion isn’t harder or easier then Chaos Bolt spamming to avoid soul shard capping.
It is. It’s very easy to level. It’s not easy to max the DPS. Also, their pets are demons, and many players love the idea of playing with dogs and cats and bears…but not the idea of summoning demons.
You weren’t. The person said warlock is easier than mage and you said they don’t know how to play mage basically. You never said they were both easy and the poster was correct. Warlock is easier.
I would play Nelf Hunter, but Blizzard found a way to furk the Nelf Posture, and make most shoulders look retarded on Females, so i chose something else.
Lol it’s really not. It’s potentially more convenient because of pets, but the time you save with better mobility on mage between blink and teleports is really strong.
Let’s ignore corruptions because they break the game. Pre corruptions i’ve run into mages and warlocks that were pretty much invincible. I’ve also run into both that were made of paper.
