Some people like to play a roleplaying game viewing their character as some fantasy version of themselves. People are human, often their fantasy version of themselves is also human.
I just recently realized last night that I have now trended towards male Velfs/Belfs for my characters. Or Dracthyr.
It used to be female Nelfs and Belfs and Draenei.
I’m not sure why I changed my preferences for characters. Could be because I stopped roleplaying, so those character stories have collected dust. Or I just dislike melee classes on female characters. Since most of my characters this expansion are melee.
This is sort of why I prefer certain classes that don’t have an extreme theme to them. When I make a warrior, hunter, monk, etc I feel like I can take them in many directions for theming, personality, style, etc. Whereas classes like death knight or demon hunter are very one dimensional and defined. I’ve never thought about races that way, but I can see it now that you say it.
Some people want a self insert and playing a human is that insert into the fantasy world. Sure it’s not the most imaginative thing ever, but if it makes the player happy, let them be happy.
I actually had this mentality for Humans for a long time. They were just boring and in a lot of ways still are. BUT, some armors just looks better on human than others. Paladin for example looks best on Humans imo. Taurens wearing pally armor has always looked so dumb to me with how their heads just poke out.
But on the opposite side, humans look so dumb in hunter armor. They look like guys who go and buy mall katanas while wearing fedora’s.
I was never interested in playing a human until Kul Tirans came around. The regular humans just didn’t fit how I wanted them to look, which is the bears we got with Kul Tirans.
