No, they’re not. Even Blizzard has said it, when people are rolling there characters, they’re only rolling a specific faction out of that race.

You mean what we had to deal with for a long time now?
We did ask mods if we could reopen a separate thread for our concerns and were told very clearly that no, they want it in one thread. So we made this thread when the megathread was capping out.

the devs use to say no because it’d wreck the horde population as all the high elf fans, currently playing blood elves, flocked to alliance, thereby destroying the population adjustment that blood elves represented for the horde.
now that’s no longer an issue, since people have grown to love and appreciate the horde as a faction. so the next argument was, no because the silhoutte should not be copied.
then allied races came out and the silhouette was copied, but not as high elves, yet same exact silhouette. so we asked, well if the issue was silhouette, why’d ya copy the silhouette. and the answer was skin color. this entire thing is over human skin colored high elves and that has been the reason this entire time. it wasnt about population numbers or silhouette, it was about skin color.
so i suggested half elves instead, and some of the antis dont even want us to have them because they dont want us to have human skin colored elves of any kind.

I’ll just add my comment too. Not sure if you knew this but our primer was closed by the mod and the author was told they only wanted one topic on high elves at a time, so we were told to post in the ‘pro high elf’ topic.
Not sure why they’re allowing this one now…but we might as well enjoy it.
A lot of antis seem to like the idea of half elves.

Player characters of a race are faction-locked.
