Hrm, just spitballing but they could make neat spider-elves (elf part a mix of nelf/belf/nb) come from Ardenweald that want to hitch a ride back with the ally to the land of the living, who help them become reborn on Azeroth. Gives enough room to make it a real race and open it up to all sorts of customization not tied to anything else.
