Why High Elves Don't Work: A Primer (Part 1)

My portrait went wonky so I swapped toons to see if it would fix it.

i know they dont wish it, but if you recall avarie mentioned there were antis on twitter laughing about helfers being on suicide watch. and people in the course of this convo saying they have no empathy for helfers, which is essentially wishing harm if the person is on suicide watch.

The twitter person might not even be on the forum though. And some antis here thought it was a disgusting tweet.

right. i didnt say it was our antis. but if someone still says they have no empathy for helfers, after that, the implications are that perserving the belf model for the horde has reached levels i’m not willing to be involved in. anybody that thinks denying their fellows empathy over a video game model, has crossed a dangerous line

Okay, well that’s something you are going to need to take up with those people. However, when someone feels like they are loosing control there is a tendency to lash out at those who they have close proximity with. I think that participating here is making you feel less in control. None of us have power over a few people on Twitter and maybe you should take a break while this whole thing bores them and they move on to something else.

Think about switching to people-first language. You’re having some issues with your heuristics.

Too many spies led to the war of thorns :disappointed: R.I.P. Delaryn Summermoon.

I think the Ice King from the land of the dead had a hand in it too. I really hope they are not sold on that image.

That’s not what they were speaking of specifically though. And you’ve been upset enough to tell people to play in traffic, which isn’t any more right than someone mocking suicide.

We need to take deep breaths and calm down and be nice to each other.

Well now I’m sad again.

Though I wouldn’t say thats a great reason to stop spying. :stuck_out_tongue: Just cause the other side used it against us.

Yeah, we can spy and leave presents for them.

I for one am super excited for the blue eyes, and I really liked what the devs had to say about all the new customization options. That they wanted to give players more freedom and say in their character’s background and story, regardless of quest text. That these options were to encourage players by reflecting the many different paths and choices other members of their race have possibly chosen.

I for instance could say that my character is a High elf from Dalaran who has repatriated back to Quel’thalas, and it’s awesome that I can now have blue eyes to reflect that choice in-game.

well thats just another way of saying go climb a tree or get out of my face or something, not like i dont have empathy for their situation. i’ve supported belfs getting anything they wanted, though i feared that would mean velfs wouldnt be able to have any of it then, cause we’re limited by what belfs already have. and that it would further complicate any potential for high and half elves also, for the same reasons - belfs already have it

It would be nice if we could get high elves that don’t repatriate back too.

I want Undead BE dark ranger skins. The Sylvanas loyalist in me has to have it :disappointed_relieved:

Glad you’ll enjoy the blue eyed option if it’s given for Blood Elves!

my mage will be a blood elf who returned to help rebuild dalaran. and after it was rebuilt just prior to wrath, and the shield lowered for all of azeroth to see, she agreed that aethas should represent our people on the council of six in dalaran

I want all races to get customizations they want. I just also want high elves. Red hair and purple eyes please.

yep, its a long awaited upgrade. i dont have a problem with it. blue eyes were never important for me, but for some it meant alliance high elves have been effectively removed from the field. we’ve lost 15 year veterans of the game because of it, as they suddenly realize they held out hope foolishly. its not a fun thing to suddenly realize you’ve been played

I still have hope. Keep the hope alive with me!

Who knows, it may be a possibility! There are plenty of cosmetics that have not yet been produced. It certainly feels like they’re going in that direction with the story after making it clear that many decided to remain loyal to the horde.

Honestly, with this it feels like the chances of Blizzard entertaining high elf themes for alliance playable races has shrunk tremendously. But who knows, anything can happen.

Wow, did helfers actually quit when they saw the blue eyes? o.O

yep. right on the forums too. one said, yeah i know it seems petty but its the implication. paraphrased.
