Why High Elves Don't Work: A Primer (Part 1)

Eh, I was getting the idea that criticism wasnt welcomed anymore. So, Im glad its taking a break. Im betting my posts were flagged and it got closed lol

I don’t really get how the “we can say whatever we want about them” concept really meshes with the “it’s THEIR fault the thread got locked” concept, but yeet.

Why so serious?

I’ve been told by close sources that this is the way to have discourse. Gotta be professional after all.

one critic of criticism does not mean we all held the same view. the way i see it is, if we didnt have each other to talk to, it wouldnt be interesting. there are variables, of course. fine tuning of the conversation and its participants, is not unusual or otherwise there wouldnt be different topics, clubs, schools of thought etc.

we are not borg, afterall.

I question that still. Opposing opinions to the topic have been something discouraged since Legion.

disagreement doesn’t equal should not exist. i think its a matter of taste. if we werent debating the topic, new ideas couldnt be injected into the game brain. haha

There hasnt been new topics in a year. The only new thing was half elves were talked about seperately.

i made a half elf thread…oh golly, probably 2 years ago. it was 404’d about a day later, marked as spam. at the time, the argument wasnt whether high elves should be an allied race, but whether any elves should be an allied race. half elves were tossed into that category.

Nothing wrong with that, lots of people are sick of elves.

the topic was up against the combined might of kul’tiran fans, mechagnome fans, sethrak fans, vrykul fans, high elf fans who only would accept high elves, and people who didnt want elves, period, even if the elf was part human.

That’s a shame, because while Half Elves are undoubtedly related to High Elves, they’re their own unique thing

Mate, they’re the children of high elves. Let’s not go crazy.

But not a full on elf as a result. Playable half breeds would be unique, even if they’re a mix of human and elven blood

did you support the inclusion of san’layn on the horde? i dont recall what your position was. i can find out easily enough, assuming you are guzzle? i know i have encountered people who argued against high or half elves on the alliance, because no more elves, who then argued in favor of san’layn (who use the thalassian and night elf models) on the horde.

lurkers flagging you.
:hugs:

I bet helfers flagged you, at one time just a mention of half elf was enough to send them into fits.

Yeah but they’re not really unique. They’re just half elf and half human, likely raised in a human society. There’s no unique challenges they face, as high elves suffer from the dying race thing more acutely while humans are… y’know… also involved in human society.

Mok’nathal are unique from orcs and ogres, for instance, because their clan was created as a slave race then lived separately from both orcs and ogres.

I don’t go out of my way, but I have no issue with the Horde getting a sub-race of one its core races.

Yeah.

I’ve never argued no more elves because I think it’s lazy. I don’t want more elves, personally, but I don’t and have never used it as an argument.

Hey look, they flag bombed this post.

How ironical.
