So. Are you saying that FF14 was not the first one to implement healers that could DPS as well as heal? Because that’s what people were saying before.
The second part is subjective. I never said that its a bad thing. I said that its no longer meant for healers to heal and relax. How does that equate to saying that its a bad thing? I said that it doesn’t cater to Healers who just want an easy job and chill. Instead, its meant for those who want to constantly be doing something.
Its useless now because that’s how they’ve designed it. They expect healers to punch in a certain % of the DPS in ultra high keys. However, if they didn’t then they’d have just given the DPS a certain % boost in DPS instead and made their DPS (healers) irrelevant. Literally in single digits so it’d be meaningless. Its designed that way now which is how it is. I don’t like it because I enjoyed the old school healing where I actually sat AFK half the time when I was tired of doing 100’s of high end arena games or several rbg’s in a week.
Its kind of like when your mind’s super tired, you’re there but not quite there, you know? And you can’t do high end stuff that requires focus but you could heal in dungeons. Play the game with friends, I liked healing the way it was back then. And raises hands, I ain’t sayin’ that they should change it or anything. That this is bad or that’s bad. It is what it is, I don’t really care. Its not my mojo so I am not doing it. My answer was partially to comfort the OP, really. Was trying to empathize with him instead of berating him about not doing things the way that they are expected to be done.
This IS NOT my point… I am saying when heals are the only subject of why aren’t you doing damage… there should also be … DPS show your heals… Just my opinion. Ex: Tank, 3 DPS… all doing what they are doing in a dungeon… most likely do not know what the healer is doing to keep all alive… or say one seems to be near death all the time…but they keep them alive… why is that happening with this ‘DPS’ person… NOTHING is ever asked? is it? Just pulling out the laundry of my own experience.

I agree… but there doesn’t seem to be the ‘criticizing’ happening on DPS as on heals. JMO. If you complain about heals dps, then also look at dps mitigation, heals,… or protecting the heals too? Just saying in this world of ‘equality’?.. I dps where I can, and heal too… but gee the criticizing and comments that come when tanks pull rooms… geez!
If the game is tuned such that it’s a benefit to the group, you will be expected by some people to do that. But that’s Blizzard’s intent or fault.

youre both your own worst critic and best critic because you can saw everything from your pov ofc
criticizing tanks for whatever, healers for whatever, dps for whatever isnt productive

As i slum through 16s, trying to dps, get orbs and all the fun stuff other healers sit in 20s not doing anything but spamming some over heals…

Making healers do damage is the same as making dps use defensives, or use dispels.
Acting like your role is the only thing you’re intended to do, when you have the entire rest of the toolkit is absolute idiocy.

? Healers in wow have been dpsing since vanilla. Healers DPS wasn’t a common thing in ff14 till stormblood when they got rid of cleric stance and needing hit stats to be able to hit mobs. Stormblood came out in 2017. In MoP they even tied mana Regen to some healers damage spells to make it even more important to dps. MoP came out in 2012. Ff14 making healers being able to DPS better was them copying wow, just like the complete redo of ff14 was them making it more like wow.

Because at the end of the day there’s only so much to be healed and you might as well be doing damage if you don’t need to top anybody. 
its pretty rare outside of statics that you arent trying to maintain 40-50khps average with near full uptime throughout a dungeon. DPS just love to pacman dmg.
The day a healer like the ones from FF14 appears, I will try to heal, long live the White Mage (BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD LILY!) and Sage. Instant heals with CD and only hard cast when things go to hell and to deal damage.
Evoker gave me FF14 vibes. But tbh I don’t like healing on Evoker nor do I like FF14 healing after playing it for so long, so maybe I’m wrong.

ff14 doesnt even have good dungeons, its the other content that makes it good.
It’s been said 100 times. Nobody if forcing you to do damage as a healer. But the entitlement is absurd. You are not entitled to group with players that want a healer that does DPS because the fact is a healer that does DPS improves the groups chances of timing the key. It is, after all, a TIMED run…
Now if you don’t have any time to DPS because 1 of the DPS needs to be babysat, doesn’t use kicks, defensives or stuns then I get the anger there. The number of DPS that have been carried to high ratings because 90% of pug groups that only look at damage meters unless you wipe to lack of kicks/stuns is absurd.

If you mean the M+, thank God it doesn’t have it, that content is not content for me, I crucified it when in BfA 3 guilds wanted to force me to farm M+ to be able to raid.

there really is a crowd of people at 2700 too that are just pure garbage. Honestly after 2700 i wouldnt even invite a dps unless they are like 3k. And usually its just better to wait for a highly rated player on an alt who will 9/10 times outperform much higher rated players with less gear.
