That’s absolutely the forums in a nutshell.
Dracthyr in particular just look dumb and every relevant character in this expansion is either Dracthyr or a Dragon – probably in their shapeshift form half the time.
Should be fine after Dragonflight is over.
LITERALLY one of the main reasons Im here instead of ESO.
Races and the cartoony look of WoW IS its appeal for me.
Make it look like ESO and I may as well go play ESO given I prefer their professions, scaling and some other things that are much better.
I’ve never been scared of a WoW boss. No idea what you’re talking about. WoW has never felt like a “dark medieval fantasy” to me. It’s cartoon land bro, with cartoon comic book stories. Always has been.
You’re still standing in the fire? Did Deathwing teach you nothing?
I didn’t do it on purpose! I was in the cave getting a treasure just below where he apparently spawns. Boy did that go badly. LOL
lol
I had the same exact thing happen to a friend. They were just minding their own business, and suddenly they were burnt, extra crispy.
Another doom and gloom post.
/yawn Please stay in Classic.
My only complaints about the Dracthyr is how little gear shows on them. Hopefully that’s an issue that will be resolved over time. I’m fine with the model itself…given what I know about new races in FFXIV and their development, making a new race and fitting all the gear to it is a daunting task, and I assume they didn’t want to delay Dragonflight for it. But hopefully this is something that will improve over time.
I’m fine if they want to give Dracthyr the ability to show more transmog in lizard form… just give me the option to hide pants if that’s the case. And belt. And shoulders. And everything. lol
It’s always been a cartoon game, y’all are wildin’
DF looks awesome and the new models are great. Love the new dragon looks, the anatomy is so much better than the old ones.
I do wish my Dracthyr’s head was just a little bit larger so it feels more proportional but that’s my only minor gripe with them.
Oh yeah, there should be an option to hide any slot via transmog.
You’re kidding right… I went to retail this morning and login at graph setting lev 2 and wow… this is not how I remembered how the game looked at lev 2… everything seem so crisp and clear. I mean I had everting on a low setting at lev 2 and stall the shadows cast a great glow on the landscape etc… So I’m not sure why you’re saying the graphics are bad… maybe you login to classic instead of retail. But the retails imagery is good far better than I last remembered.
Got it OP wants ffxiv cartoon style.
There are mmos that are over 10 years old that have better graphics than WoW. Hell there’s a lot of mmo’s that visually look a ton better than WoW. The game has improved a little bit here and there but not by a lot. You can go back to Cata/Mists and see the same quality for the most part which is up to 13 years ago.
And the last somewhat scary villain we had imo was N’Zoth.
tbh i’d play wow more if they revert the changes from the spell bars.
and yes im aware of mods…
that mod stopped working
For some reason “Hide Pants” is the last standout for Blizzard. They just don’t seem to want to give it to us, regardless of how many people want that option. Heck, I want the option to choose my underwear, too. Maybe I want some comfy blue silk boxers instead of what I’m wearing. But that aside, having the options to hide pants might result in a few people running around in just their underwear, but for most people, you would only see that option used when it makes sense for the outfit that they’re going for. I hope that one day soon Blizzard will decide that the downside (nearly naked fools) is outweighed by the upsides.
They hire people from Disney. They’ve said as much.
Everyone thinks this is what Warcraft fans want. That’s never been true however. Warcraft I would say was heading in the same direction EverQuest was going just at a higher fidelity. Just look at the old cinematics and how gritty, dark and fascinating they were.
The modern game is colorful and childish because the workforce probably thinks boomer gamers are into that sort of thing.
I think the problem you’re having is that the modern graphics are so good that leave little to the imagination to fill in.
The old graphics were all polygonal, jagged and poorly textured; your imagination filled in the blanks to customize every model’s appearance in a custom way.
It’s a blessing and a curse.
We’ve literally called our characters “toons” since Vanilla, it’s always been this way
