Why have "hero" classes if they just get nerfed?

Bliz introduces these classes like DK and DH but then nerf them to oblivion so they are no longer heroes and are just regular. So why even bother? Why not just introduce them as normal classes and not mess with them?

Hero classes start at a higher level than others. That is the WoW definition of a hero class.

It does not mean they are broken and/or overpowered and only DKs were really OP when they were first released. DHs were fine relative to everything else at the time.

I like when they do stuff like that … when new classes are OP, it will get people playing them (DK). If new classes do just as well and it’s easier, people will play them (DH). Monks were not OP nor easy and I think that might be why there aren’t so many of them.

If you would have to level a whole new character and you aren’t going to be more powerful, what’s the point? Fun? That would be lovely but we’re talking about Monks.

Yes, but at the same time, there’s a bit more to it than just that. This is the actual definition as given by Blizz:

A hero class is a character class derived from the base classes, but with exclusive perks. These perks can include a unique starting experience, customization options, resources, class mounts, a higher starting level, and other flavor mechanics. There are currently two hero classes, the death knight and the demon hunter. The concept of a hero class is derived from the “heroes” in Warcraft III.

The term “hero class” is commonly misunderstood to mean that the class is more powerful than other classes. The term instead signifies a unique playstyle and experience,^[1] as well as denoting a class of heroes which start at an already “heroic” or “veteran” level, with an experience and gear to match.^[2]

monks are very fun but they are not EASY (any spec) like some other classes are. people think of playing them as “too much work for too little reward.”

my only other 60 rn is a monk. ymmv.

Why have classes when the devs Dont have time to balance them. Should just delete all classes besides mage warrior priest because them interns cant balance them all let alone a spec for each one.

Also read what marketing goal is and you might realize why they are called hero class. Marketing will tell you this spoon makes you run fast if they can get away with it in court.
