Go read their public response to the suit being filed.
It’s pretty damning.
Obviously we need to wait and see, but that statement was them digging their own grave.
Because the state wouldn’t be pushing charges after 2 years if they didn’t have hard evidence
States don’t just take companies to court over nothing after a 2-year-long investigation unless the evidence is pretty hard. But please, keep living in cognitive dissonance land.
Read the entire analysis from the lawyer’s response I linked. It’s the worst statement Blizzard could have possibly given. It does nothing but make them look ultra guilty and defensive.
Right, right…
I’m sure that once what looks to be an airtight, open and shut, textbook case of pervasive discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace gets resolved and there’s a judgment against Blizzard, all the people who are like, “Innocent until proven guilty!” will be like, “Okay, I believe the allegations now.” And totally not double down with more spin and denials.
Mmmm, yes. That will totally happen.
People like inquisitions and witchburnings. It is so much easier.
You do realize you can’t do that for most things? Even in criminal proceedings (which this isn’t) it is near impossible?
Again accusations of this nature are almost impossible to “prove”. It is all about if we believe them or not. In this case there are enough verified former Blizzard employees and circumstantial evidence coming forward outside of the state’s complaint to construct a reasonable opinion.
THIS is a perfectly reasonable and logical position to take.
We need to see what they say for themselves as a defense, but its not looking good imo
I have no issue with that.
As opposed to
“Bliz is obviously guilty because anyone who claims sexual harssement is tell the truth all the time”
or things in that regard
States don’t just take companies to court over nothing after a 2-year-long investigation unless the evidence is pretty hard. But please, keep living in cognitive dissonance land.
So again I ask why even give them a defense?
Why doesn’t Cali and the judicial system there just go
“You know what, its been 2yrs and you brought forth accusations so you MUST have the prove, no need to go any further lets just get straight to the punishments”
Why give them a defense if the simple investigation + accusation is enough?
“Bliz is obviously guilty because anyone who claims sexual harssement is tell the truth all the time”
This is a strawman that nobody here is saying. There is a ton of information in the report, there are verified former employees coming forward, and there was AA quietly quitting in the middle of this investigation with all mention of him scrubbed from Blizzard’s corporate info.
You do realize you can’t do that for most things? Even in criminal proceedings (which this isn’t) it is near impossible?
I should have said “reasonable doubt” because that is what I meant since that HAS been done since like…ever

OPINION yes
But if the statement is “Bliz is obviously guilty and we should look into this no further and punish bliz as much as possible right now” then no.
Opinions can change based on evidence, the state has theirs lets see what Bliz has to say (given that they have had less than a day to do so)
what about those accusations do you find so hard to believe?
It’s not a matter of if I believe them or not, and I believe they are more than likely true. It’s a matter of it’s a situation for legal system to handle and resolve. I will hold my judgement until the courts proceedings have come to a verdict.
And it’s been an ongoing investigation for two years,
the accusations are substantiated by a two year investigation conducted by the california department of fair employment and housing.
Yes, but that’s only 1 side of the story. Blizzard gets their day in court like everyone else.
it’s about proving beyond a reasonable doubt.
It’s not a criminal case, it’s just a lawsuit, which only requires a preponderance of evidence.
They need to be personally in the room with the lawyers, perusing all the evidence, and determining their opinion of the situation at hand. That’s how it works!
No, I just want to let the legal system do it’s job.
There are also enough information in the papers, from verified former employees, and from other circumstantial events for many of us to feel this is most likely true.
I mean, just the fact that the state is bringing a lawsuit is enough for me to think it’s likely to be true, because let’s be honest state/federal prosecutions have like a 95%+ conviction/success rate.
I think you need to understand that we are past the accusations at this point. The accusations prompted an investigation, and the investigation prompted this lawsuit. This isn’t a he said she said.

the legal system isn’t required though for an opinion. And that is all the burden of proof for civil cases is anyway - more likely than not to be true.
The pudding guy’s investigation was longer. Remind me where is he now?
Uh, do you think Cosby was innocent?
when over 20+ victims come forward and payroll shows the rest… how unlikely is it they aren’t guilty?
I dont believe either side when money is involved. The lawyers win.
the legal system isn’t required though for an opinion
I mean, I have my opinion on the matter already. I’m not screaming about it because I’m waiting to see if I am wrong, or what, if any evidence Blizzard presents in court.
Uh, do you think Cosby was innocent?
Did I say that?
Do you?

They are though.
I have looked through some of the comments on the forums…there are quite a few people claiming that EXACT thing. the statement goes usually
“Sexual harassment is so horrible that women seldom if ever make it up”
I think you need to understand that we are past the accusations at this point. The accusations prompted an investigation, and the investigation prompted this lawsuit. This isn’t a he said she said.
No at the moment its
“Cali said these people said”
Now we get to hear what Bliz says…thats how it works.

Guilty of what?
It could be found that
a) Bliz is 100% guilty of everything
b) Bliz is 100% innocent of everything
c)) Bliz is guilty of somethings but other claim were overblown or have no support
This is not a binary situation
