Im for the allied races being given out to folks without it being a chore, but your student loan example is really bad.
Bfa flying is unlocked or will be soon
Missed the same xpacs and yet I went back and got all the races unlocked. And I only play ally but still unlocked horde. I also managed to get the ach “two sides to every story” (or what ever it was called) done and got both the horde charger and ally frostwolf unlocked.
There are some things I think should be fixed like flying in BfA since blizzard admitted that pathfinder was bad and changed the others… but the ally races, you’re lazy. It doesn’t take as long as you make it out to be and if blizzard fixed flying like they should have a long time ago, it will be even easier
I left because of the nerfs due to pvp people complaining and the acid in forum and in game about how us casuals like i had 2 kids a carreer ending event and a marriage since I started wow. I LIKE IT. I DON’T HAVE TIME FOR IT. I SAID SOMETHING, similar in a forum and got banned for that. To hear someone who did it the hard way say meh let em have it is a Relief.
My wife abhores gaming my kids will not be joining on an account even though I think it could be something fun to do together because it takes to much time to catch up to the majority of the players who stay subbed. I RECENTLY saw the 5 mil gold AH mount and actually had the thought wish I had another body to grind that thing out because of how cool that is. But here I am 36 disabled military vet with no time to unlock any thing especially when blizzard arbitrarily balances out the toon you invested in and nerfes it into the ground. I spent alot of time making it able to do something ridiculously outside of it’s purpose such as a warlock pet able to generate enough self sheilding to pull those elite mini world bosses that took me 10 minutes to wittle down to dead solo while the server watched. 2 weeks later poof can’t do that fun thing anymore your ability that you stacked 50% mastery and a specific amount of crit and haste to make x ability do so is gone now only 15% as effective. That that right there and the forum ban saw me out of the community for 5 years. I got almost 25 toons and a life I finally wisened up and said alright life is more important the cool thing I can do online is broken and if I figure out something OP they will kill it. So i got a job and started making 300k a year taking 4 months off. After my kids grow up a bit more I may come back to wow. But in it’s current management I doubt I will stay past my year sub. Why, cause when you figure out something that takes weeks of grinding out the specific things to make it work and makes x y z outside of the box things possible the wack it with a big fn nerf hammer to put you back in line. Play the game the way we want you to. And that attitude is running off alot of people. So what if a shamman spell is OP as possible? is it fun? Yes and yes well so what nerf.
Well went off on a rant there. Point is some content and story is great but figuring out how to play a game and potentially break it’s your a dps how dare you be a tank aspect is my kinda fun just make it a severe time sink to get to those gearing possibilities and poof you have a reason to find friends start a guild meet weekly and do content, do a raid. Point blank. Blizzard doesn’t acknowledge that poimt I believe. There is a point somewhere passed 300 hours on a toon where you should wallop any and all pve content solo even nearly kill world bosses on your own because you put in that much effort to do it all and do it right.
the oddity here is most of these races made panda’s happy.
Panda’a were going Yes!!! we aren’t the leasts played race anymore.
so its preserving for something they don’t really…use. besides maybe a new expac wth level cap touch up.
the mechagnomes must be kept sacred. well…mission accomplished. you will see 5, not just 1 but 5!, unicorns before you see 1 mechagnome. I can’t even recall the last time I saw one in any epic bg.
and that’s epic. famed for waking up crap alts jsut to gear them up if only to make some more calling money lol. serious and epic bg really don’t pair up to well lol.
Rofl you understand your new blood brought up to think what they want you to think blizzard didn’t have that stance in vanilla wow it was the top raiding guilds and it was,nt just World of Warcraft they went from mmo’s to mmo’s killing the them with bad reviews about no end game content, us casuals Elmalo brownsugar told you told Blizzerd to stop catering to them and start catering to PVP and solo players And since we got rid of Activision the first time in God they got to put in stuff casuals saved blizzard and World of Warcraft from being another mmo’s did died after endgame Contant dried up too fast
Wow I made it through all of the comments. Fun read.
For the OP and those who are totally against changing the current allied unlock system.
As someone who unlocked them all when they were current and have helped others do it who were new/returning without flying, here’s the thing that seems to come from the crowd wanting it to remain the way it is…
That’s just not true at all for new/returning players. And I’ve been playing the game since 2004. If they have to use multiple guides, encounter multiple quest stopping bugs, the flying restriction for bfa while yet being told they can fly at 30.
That adds hours upon the hours they’ve already compiled leading to super confusion and frustration. Which in turn leads to it being difficult.
Understand also that they don’t have this with other races, it has to baffle them and yes I’ve seen people check out completely because of this . This is not good for the health of our game.
And the dark iron/kt portions show that it isn’t about lore and its a mess proves this
Sure it’s an rpg, an mmo. But again understand that they didn’t get any of this with the other race choices or from the way the game is presenting them their experiences in the reach.
No. Most are fine working, it’s just the extended tedious process combined with confusing things.
Also, we are talking about a game where the majority of the content has been curated for that mindest. There are countless things that have been redesigned or made easier because of them being old and tedious… It’s called quality of life improvements, and sometimes it’s just simply time…
Leading to…
Could it have been designed better? Sure. Is it easier than it used to be? Sure.
But neither of those are solutions.
To use your dt evoker that you can fly with, and go to bfa that you cannot fly in, then go through all of that mess to get your dark iron which you then have to re-level, yeah it won’t feel good.
A race that you make before your class, to go through that, isn’t new/returning player, or alt friendly at all.
The emissary portions of the unlocks should be used as the unlock for that race. Let the player make the race, complete the emissary, do the reach or whatever other starter perquisite combination that let’s them do some understanding of it and then level that character through bad azeroth and shallowlands.
Those are my thoughts on this.
I actually didn’t mind the quests to unlock the Allied Races, a few of them though it was just a lot of stuffing around
It is not.
The hope is in DF, but we’ll see.
I may not raid nor do PvP, but I do play low level content, A LOT. I’m quite experienced in what new players/returning players are going through.
I don’t think anyone who has abandoned irrelevant content has any idea on what’s going on with ARs, new players, returning players, etc., and are spreading false information regarding the actual work being put in.
I’ve unlocked the ones I wanted and disagree.
I consider 13hrs (Nightborne) and 20-30hrs (Kul’Tiran) to be long. Wants “long” for you?
It would’ve helped unlocking the Kul’Tiran, yes. Seeing as how it’s not the case, flying plays a factor in time invested.
Also, there’s NO way to unlock the Highmountain Tauren without a Class Order Hall.
I have, multiple times. The comments always seem to regurgitate the same thing:
Here’s my suggestion, for the millionth time:
I don’t know, I suppose they think that you deserve a good grind. With a spot of goat’s milk in yer coffee, eh ol’ chap.
Because I didn’t level a single Horde character to max in BFA, I didn’t get any Horde allied races, with the exception of the HMT and Nightborne from Legion. The only one that even remotely interests me is Vulpera but I don’t think I care enough about it to do BFA again so soon on a Horde toon…
I’m glad blizzard isnt the government or everyone would be on welfare IRL as much as these players whine.
Funny enough, the Vulpera is the easiest AR unlock. That’s the only one I’ll agree is “easy”. I find it interesting how vastly different each AR unlock is. Some are super easy and some are really unnecessarily time consuming.
Because you just have to actually play the game and you will have them you know buy the game and actually play it and quit just wanting everything for free as the forums seem to want alot.
Simply “playing the game” doesn’t unlock the ARs. Especially for New Players being “guided” through BFA content, that they completely skip out on Legion’s ARs. No, you have to “play the game” in a specific way. I’d be singing a different tune, if unlocking ARs was that simple by just “playing the game”.
But, on that note, is my suggestion really a “free hand-out”?
I’m considering Trial Accounts should NOT have access to ARs. Keeping the ARs “premium” status in check. Along with still having some work put in with just the Embassy questlines (so, it’s not just “handed out”) AND being (at least) level 20+.
Does not scream “hand out”, to me.
If you can’t be bothered, then you don’t want them very much. Also, the requirements have been significantly reduced.
Maybe Blizzard should add an Iwin button as a special bonus for a 5 year subscription that gives you every item in the game and 60 max level, end game geared, characters. /s
In all the mmorpgs I have played none make you unlock your character. You just choose a race / class and start adventuring.
This was just a Financial Model test decision some executive at Blizzard made. It should be eliminated. And the universal model of giving the player Characters Race/Class to play without restrictions, re-instituted.
What blizzard did was attempt to emulate a mobile gotcha game. Where you get a few free things, but if you want to get more characters or items you gotta pay. Or suffer through a mind numbing grind.
Probably in an test to see if people would put up with this system. Or rebel against it.
Blizzard already has Tokens, Buy level 60 boosts. Buy other in game things for real world cash. This was just a test to see if eventually they could make players buy characters for real world cash also.
I’m amazed no one here see this tactic: Make new races so horrible to get that a large portion of the population will gladly pay in real world cash for them. For something that we (Bliz) use to give away for free.
The Gotcha system works like this: If you want something in-game you can either play until you get it which will take you 3 months. Because they intentionally bloat the unlock to take the most tedious time consuming route. Or you can just buy it for $50.00 real world cash. And get it right now. Its that simple.
Don’t be surprised if some time soon Bliz might release the new races for a real world money price. Or In-game Gold. Which you can buy a token to get.
So yeah soon the only ones who will be playing the new races in the future will be the Whales. (Addicted people with money to throw away). Welcome to the realm of Mobile Ripoff gaming.
This Gotcha nonsense can be stopped if enough of you tell Blizzard you want your new Races and any future new Races made completely available to you upon purchase of the new expansions.
Funny how some people can’t see the forest for the trees.
