Why hasn't Blizzard unlocked Allied Races already?

This should be a no-brainer when doing an exp boost and trying to bring players back for a new expansion.

By now I’ve played every class in the game. But I didn’t get a chance to play BfA (fortunately) or Legion (unfortunately). I want to roll an allied race, but I just can’t be bothered to make a huge effort to unlock them.

Why should have to do many complicated achievements in order to choose races which have been around for almost 3-4 expansions now?

How the hell is it complicated? When it’s all story related achievements and it’s not that hard to do them.

Because the whole point of them is to entice you to go back and do the content

That said, I do think at least a couple of them could stand to have their requirements relaxed a little (looking at you, Nightborne…). However they should not ever just be granted for free

How it’s not complicated? As far as I can tell after some a bit of research, it’s too complicated for anyone to actually make an-in depth guide on how to do them because you need to do practically every single quest in those expansions for the loremaster achievements, which I’m guessing is 20-40 hours of time spent for each achievement? I have no interest in the story if that’s what your implying makes it easy, the story in WoW sucks.

Well, I’m glad you sort of agree, but why not? Choosing your race is the first thing you do when you start the game. Access to every playable class and race is only common sense. There’s no need for gatekeeping.

A good compromise at this point would be to require THESE things for each faction, and only having to do this once.

Legion Allied races, requirements do the legion scenario with either horde or alliance, same requirements to unlock the portals to legion dalaran, heck even pandaren portal is unlocked in a similar fashion. Unlocking Wrath dalaran portal is even more laxed.
BFA, play through Horde and Alliance prologue scenarios and unlock allied races when zuldazar and kul tiras have portals to main cities set up. You automatically get a quest to go to the embassy.
This way new players still need to get to lvl 10, do the scenarios, AND do each individual recruitment quest to unlock the Allied races. These prerequisites would still require work, patience and time, but with less pressure and being able to unlock ARs sort of at their own pace. No needing to root through old content beyond what I described. It sounds a bit more fair than what we have right now . People should want to do old content for fun, not be pressured to do it for Allied races which at this point are 2 expansions old. Heck you can do the opening scenarios on one character and do the embassy quest with a totally different one, as long as the character you started the activity with, does that ONE activity from start to finish.

Because:

  1. There’s lore behind the unlocks that Blizzard wants players to experience.
  2. The unlocks are now insanely easy and don’t require rep grinds or dungeon content.
  3. They would prefer you actually do the work to unlock the content, rather than just have it handed to you.

Compared to the requirements during the expansions where they were relevant, the requirements now are a walk in the park. Keep in mind that before the changes if say you wanted to unlock the Lightforged Draenei you needed to do the entire Argus quest chain, which took some time when the expansion was current, and you needed to get to exalted with the Army of the Light faction, which took several months.

Then you needed to do the unlock quest chain which was 3 fairly easy to do quests and BAM unlocked.

Now you just need to complete the Argus storyline and the intro quest chain.

Are you seriously going to sit there and tell me that doing that is too demanding on your time?

hyper-casuals always seek more hand-outs. It’s a sad travesty.

It takes maybe a couple of hours of questing at max level to blow through the 90 or so quests needed for Kul’Tirans/Zandalari which are the hardest of the allied races to unlock, imo. It seems daunting if you glance over the requirements but the war campaigns are probably some of the best questing experiences in the enteriety of WoW, albeit OP probably doesn’t read quest text.

Even then, the biggest issue was the rep requirement and the war campaign completion (since each stage unlocked over time) but now you don’t have any rep requirements and the war campaign can be done in one go, since there’s no timegating or rep preventing you from going through it.

Yes. they should earn them like scalies. oh wait…that didn’t happen.

Because allied races are meant to have some degree of novelty. That’s why they have entire stories and questlines involving their unlock, it makes you feel special when you finally unlock them and can make one yourself

BfA is the expansion before Shadowlands and Shadowlands is the expansion before Dragonflight. AR’s have been around since BfA, which makes it actually 2 expansions, with the exception of 4 of them being released in patch 7.3.5 only to people who pre-purchased BfA

I mean they really should be. Same with BFA flying. Just remove all those arbitrary locks.

Because casuals ruined WoWs success, and Blizzard is done listening to lazy players who are terrible.

Oh really raids were already dying due to low percentage of player were participating and if were not for LFR raids would’ve been discontinued long ago.

It’s a 45-minute quest line; it’s not that hard. Is it seriously that hard to do the quests for achievement? It isn’t that hard.

What else are you doing for the next week and a half that’s so important?

The questing to unlock them is very easy. Especially at max ilvl.

If you did all the quests at the pace of the expansion it’s not bad, but I came back in the last season of BFA, not having done any of the post-120 quests it took forever to unlock zandalari.

Nightborne also took me a while, but I was lucky I had done like 70% of the nightborne storyline in legion so it didn’t take too long to unlock them.
