Why has Maintenance been Extended every week?

More cowbell

Listen, we just got the most game breaking feature in a new expansion.

I’m talking First level squish broken kind of game.

Warband is a whole new core mechanic, they literally lost ITEMS FROM GUILD BANKS!!!.. I mean this is a mess and downtime are expected.

Get some patience and hope the game get fixed, cuz the alternative is shutdown the servers for good, and there’s nothing we can do about it.

Seriously they should say 6 hrs for something they think will only take 2. So they look like hero’s when its only 5. Then all the blizz apologist can sing their praises as well. Under promise over deliver. ez

That’s true, as IT admins should always overshoot our maintenance downtime with the customers. Rather them be happy that “the system came up early”.

I’ve lived in Manila, I doubt it’s anything like their BPO culture

They should do what many 24/7 services you enjoy do… Shift the maintenance to the times in which your service is least used. They should offer recompense any time they change maintenance without a 24 hour warning as well. Sure it might not be much indivually, however when you start racking up 20 cents per person per maintenance…well there are millions of players, the company would very quickly start upgrading servers and fixing code when they have to pay 400,000+ dollars out each maintenance

Fun fact. I made a topic saying just this, and forum users reported it as trolling and it was removed. Trolling means that you don’t believe what you’re saying, and you’re simply trying to rowel up users. I believe what I said. What a great forum system, where users that simply disagree with what you’re saying can flag your post for removal. Talk about mob justice.

Cuz the game needs maintenance, just go out and get ice cream while you wait…

This expansion will forever be known to me as “The Maintenance Within.” It feels as if every single day now (even both Saturday and Sunday) there’s maintenances.

Lol they wouldnt shut down the servers yet, they would just tell all the folks who lost items, “Sucks to be you” and still not offer recompense. Im willing the devs get haughty when their favorite service go offline for random things. I see people write fire and brimstone when the internet goes out :3

EU Servers seem to be up on time. Wonder what the difference is

It just just not exist then.

From a business perspective, if they have 7.25 mill subscribers and had to pay out .25 cent a piece per hour of maintenance time. They would figure out a way to get the work done as quick as possible. Odds of extensions would be slim. When you don’t hold someone accountable, they will do whatever they please.

Given that WoW is the best MMORPG of all times, I guess it’s because of these maintenance.

If all other MMO had better maintenance, but a worst game… XD

A lot of that is legacy because any change can have unintended consequences in a large system. Compared to WoW, stock exchange code is relatively simple - on purpose.

This is absolutely NOT how every expansion has been. Yeah, sure there were “some” days with longer maintenance in past. But this is 5 1/2 weeks of extended maintenance every week. We literally just the 1st week of not having multiple days of maintenance and extended maintenance. But you go ahead and simp harder.

I’m sorry, but Blizzard should absolutely change maintenance hours to times that don’t impact the playerbase as much.

They are probably having a team meeting (ie playing CoD) for the first two hours, then they notice the window is almost up and they extend it for another two

Meanwhile in FFXIV their servers have been DDOSed every day for awhile now during peak times. And everyone’s just like, well that sucks, guess we just can’t raid tonight :dracthyr_shrug: and moves on.

I think extended maintenance would be preferable lol.

I mean, other MMO’s don’t seem to have an issue with overnight maintenance.
