Why is it gone again? It was added back in dragonflight. And now, it is gone.
It wasn’t as cool as the old one, but it was nice to have it again. I just do not understand the changes being made anymore.
We had a pretty good start with dragonflght, and now, they are changing, nerfing, and deleting things again. Aka pruning. It is just really stupid to me, and I don’t fully follow. Exorcism spell is just gone now, and I don’t see the point in playing ret again until it comes back.
You also have observer being removed from warlocks, and the mage elemental pet being changed to a cooldown ability. Just stupid changes all around.
I’m glad it is gone. It had no interaction with the rest of our abilities and a creepy sound effect. Ret overall is in a way way better place since the rework.
I wholeheartedly disagree. But you have your opinion. And I have mine. Neither is wrong.
I just do not agree with blizz deleting it. It was a talent. You could opt to not choose it. Now I am denied the ability to choose it, which is a stupid change.
I mean, they could have reworked it in there somehow. But they chose not to. Couldn’t have been that hard. That way, I would have my option. And you would have yours.
It completely ruined my playstyle with ret. Now I will just go back to prot, as prot has way cooler abilities to me.
True. The one they just removed didn’t have a “creepy” sound effect. It had a practically non-existent one. Now, if it had still used the old Exorcism sound, that was a cool one.
But Exorcism in DF pre-rework was bad. Instead of bringing bad talents back, what should happen is they should add a glyph to the game that replaces Blade of Justice with the old Exorcism sound and effects.
It was an extra button implemented very poorly. Like Shaurize said, it should’ve just replaced BoJ if they wanted to keep it. Or find some other way to have it interact with our other spells.
…? Ret has no shortage of buttons even after its removal.

I think it is a ‘catholic’ thing. Can’t have ‘exorcisms’ going on. Do not remove evil, not a good thing. I would think there would be a spell to replay called ‘call the demons’?
They made a big deal about it coming back and then it was literally just a very late talent node that did literally nothing but damage which made it very bad to press.
Would have been an alright class skill so Holy could have a ranged alternative to CS since they dont want to give them Denounce back (im not counting the pvp talent next patch) but instead it was just there, to compete with BoJ which it had no chance of doing.
Question my paladin bonafides all you want, but I’ve played one since Vanilla beta and I’ve never liked the sound. Even now, I still play this game only because of the paladin class. My friends are convinced I must have “Powered by the Light” tattooed on me somewhere.
I fully agree. There is no mechanical place for it, so swapping BoJ via glyph would be the best way to give the Exo die-hards a way to have it back.
I personally disagree. While the old one was better. The attemp at the new one, wasn’t that bad. It just seemed like it had a really long cooldown for some reason.
It just stinks on so many levels that, instead of reworking, whatever was wrong with it in df, we will never know. They deleted it. Again.
The new sound effect wasn’t as cool, but I used it all the time when I was leveling up in BFA content during dragonflight pre patch. It was amazing. The thrill of actually being able to cast that spell again, after what like ten years.
Like why did they put all that work into reworking it in the first place, if it was just going to suddenly disapear again later on down the line in DF. Like I hate blizzard right now for doing this. Stupid change.
I don’t think Catholic clergy do exorcisms anymore. I have seen videos of Christian fundamentalist exorcisms recently, including some taken by a 24 year old gay kid whose parents were trying to exorcise demons from his closet so he would stop being gay.
