If they didn’t force you to automatically summon your ground mount when you use random summon mount and nothing else I’d have more love for them but as it stands until they fix that (if they do) I will never again mount a ground mount
I guess it’s an argument in semantics. You technically earned it in the strictest sense that you had to do something to get it, but the fact that you got it organically just by engaging with the game in a way that you (presumably) would normally do regardless of the Post’s contents makes “earned” sound like a misnomer.
I haven’t done a good job of articulating my point, that’s my bad.
The point is, Trading Post is a bonus. It isn’t the reward system for the activities. In that way, it’s “free”.
All of the activities that you do to get the reward from Trading Post have their own rewards systems that are there to make the time you put into them worthwhile. Trading Post is the cherry on top that you get simply for playing whatever content it is you enjoy.
If anything Trading Post is an incentive not to go AWOL, but I’ve been plesantly surprised thus far by how lenient Trading Post is - which I think is a good thing. I don’t like the idea of Blizzard feeding on FOMO (which they have a habit of doing) and I’m glad that Trading Post doesn’t appear to be pushing that.
You’re disappointed by what’s on offer this month, that’s perfectly fine. I’m sure there will be months where the offer is not something I’m interested in, and in those months I won’t worry about making sure I hit the cap if I don’t care for the reward. But I would find it inappropriate for me to hit the cap just naturally playing the game, only to then be upset that the reward I didn’t even specifically work to get wasn’t something I want.
Not true. My wife is also an avid player. She has a level 80. She has racked up thousands of reward points just playing the game, but she has no interested in the Trading Post. She has never collected all the rewards for any month. She never looks at the Adventure Guide.
What? I don’t understand how that’s a response to what I said? It doesn’t matter if she doesn’t go and claim the rewards, it is a fact that you get tenders and the monthly rewards just by playing the game normally. The traveler’s log has so many entries that run the gamut of content that you would have to go out of the way to not fill the bar over the course of 30 days. Deciding not to claim the rewards is inconsequential to the discussion.
There is no finial monthly reward there for her to claim. Try this next moth. Don’t look at your Adventure Guide and see how far you in collecting all your rewards for that month by just playing the game. Looking at the Adventure Guide, I could give you a list of things she doesn’t do in the game, butt I won’t
“the maw” … lmfao 2 expansions ago? and they are making decisions for current expansion?.. what?.. also… what zone in TWW is ground only? and “future content” doesn’t count. because the mounts are released now.
No one is forcing you to. Thanks for letting us know?
They were examples, which is why I said “like the […]”. Look at Darkmoon Faire or battlegrounds which are no-fly zones and used in current content. Or dungeons which don’t allow flight.
Can you fly in most dungeons? Hmm??
I always keep a theme-appropriate ground mount on my character’s bars for no-fly zones, because flying mounts look ridiculous when restricted to walking imo.
Yes they can, but in my possibly not very humble opinion, running around on a huge drake looks a bit silly. When Im having to use a non-flight mount, I like something relatively small and neat so my view of my ground environment isn’t blocked by a big flappy wing thing.
I got the monthly reward last week just by playing normally, I didn’t have to go out of the way to get it. I didn’t even realize I had finished until I was riding by the post on the way to the flightmaster and figured I’d check. Same thing for last month’s and most months. I repeat: the adventure guide is usually pretty broad on content so it kind of takes concerted effort and a very narrow scope of play to not earn the monthly after 30 days of playing. Not impossible, mind, but very unlikely.
I understand what you are saying, it’ s just I don’t agree with you.
For example grinding reps is no different than the Trading post, Both have their ultimate reward, but have rewards along the way. In grinding reps or most achievements , think of all the rewards you get doing quests for reps and and the drops for doing those quests.
Trading Post is no different than any other achievement. Unless you do exactly what is required you’ll never achievement the final outcome.
I think renown is significantly different to Trading Post thanks to the sheer scope of activities that Trading Post rewards you for engaging with. You’ll build up Trading Post tenders while you grind repuation for Renown - that’s the point, you get the Trading Post rewards pretty much for doing whatever it is you want to do.
I don’t think this is true for the vast majority of the player base. As I said, I haven’t played a ton this month and I’ve unlocked the mount with half the month to spare.
This is the only character I’ve played this month, with my other main alt being a mage that’s sitting at level 78 because I wanted to focus on getting this character ready for Season 1.
You can check its achievements if you want. I completed Isle of Dorn on the 7th, Ringing Deeps on the 9th and Hallowfall/Azj-Kahet on the 11th. This was focusing almost entirely on main story quests as I was just trying to get to max level and complete the campaign so I could access Bountiful Delves and WQs.
I then did a few WQs and Delves - you can look at my character’s gear, I am still mostly in quest gear with a couple of pieces from WQs and a couple of pieces from Delves.
I’m a pretty casual player and had no issue getting this month’s mount.
But even if we want to say that you need to actively grind for Trading Post, I’m not sure what your argument is. If you don’t like the reward, you could opt not to grind for it. If you want to get the mount just for collection purposes then I’m not sure why its relevance for your gameplay matters, and if you don’t want the mount at all then I’m not sure why not getting it would be an issue.
If you don’t like the mount and passively unlocked it while playing the game, then once again I’m not sure why its usefulness to you matters as you just got it for doing stuff you were already doing.
I’m just not sure what the issue is here at all.
People really need to understand that this “flying” is gliding and not actually “flying” the actual “flying” is TBC flight which you learn at level 20.
I have a level 75, a level 73 and 3 70s.
Same here. I did it with low level alts in BFA and lower
basically just plus ones and maybe for standing around in town AFK. Ground mounts are obsolete when you can now fly everywhere at level 10.
Its a world of magic - free all the mounts and let them fly.
I understand what you are saying, However the icon says “Switch Flight Style.” Under that it lists the two styles of flight, Skyriding and steady flight. Even though Skyriding may be considered gliding, it a style of flight.
While I agree with you, how can they make a giant crocodile fly?
Actually I was thinking more along the lines of offering a flying mount instead of a ground mount. Felrond had a great idea. Think about having flying mammoth mounts.
