It doesn’t. At all. Not even a little.
Unless there’s something this CM completely failed to mention, this is a strike out in one swing.

This is such an unreal level of overreaction. Just don’t get leatherworking if you don’t want to. God forbid we get to actually play something close to how TBC actually was.
Each class and player pushes out different dps, so I am not sure how you get equal damage but hey whatever makes you feel better.
They were buffed in 2.3.2 (1/8/2008).
Yeah lol.
I literally keep going back to reread the post because maybe I missed something.
Me too. But the more I read it the more I feel that the entire problem was misunderstood, somehow? I get reducing the range, but that just makes you want to stack up. If it was personal for the normal version only even then I could see a kind of solution (that gets worse later ofc) but… this makes zero sense at all.
Unfortunately, people seem to have forgotten that rooted deep in the #nochanges movement was a fundamental lack of trust in modern Blizzard devs to make rational changes that could improve the vanilla experience.
They literally can’t be trusted to fix an old problem that already has an old solution.
How does this fix the problem at all? This makes is still a problem, but also an annoying one for a while too. Making the problem worse in hopes that it goes away is the dumbest way to deal with an issue I’ve ever heard of.
Even if it does “succeed” in T4 and T5, the problem just comes back in T6 like it never left.
Actually fix problem, it isn’t that hard. 90% of the players on here have given better solutions and we aren’t even getting paid to do it.
Also, just like in classic, the “final/1.12/2.4.3” version of items isn’t the best version for all tiers. It has lots of other issues it creates besides just being the easiest option for you.
fond memories we all have of drum rotations as one of the added layers of teamwork in later Burning Crusade encounters.
“Fond” no, not at all.
You know, I railed against the no change crowd but this is pretty much the proof in the pudding, isn’t it?
The problem is now worse. Instead of everyone having to go LW now everyone has to go LW and you need a drop from ZA so they are less annoying to use and they’re now more expensive to craft for the same effect!
You could have made the drums give a debuff just like BL so that you can’t benefit from them for the drum CD or make drums affect the whole raid. Then drums are still useful but you don’t need 25 LW in raid.
I didn’t back then and I’m not this time round. Sue me.
If that’s the make or break difference between content being cleared and not then this game is a P.O.S. But it’s not. So… meh.
Edit: SWP could be argued against what I said. But we’ll see what TBC classic is like.
This is a very misguided reaction. The way it worked when TBC was current content is that raiders were required to go leatherworking for these drums. So in that respect, Blizzard is delivering on what you want.
However, they said that they would be looking into making changes to leatherworking such that this would not happen. Guilds that want to push or compete for clear times are going to want you to have leatherworking for these drums until the greater versions are out.
Instead of reliving one of the more un-fun aspects of the game I want them to improve upon it.
Please don’t release it in the state.
Add a debuff to the drums for gods sake. I don’t want every single boss to be a horse race of people stacking up, spreading out, stacking up, spreading out, over and over.
If you want to make every boss a slog and boring with your new added stacking mechanic, its going to make raiding generally bland.

I’m sure nobody at blizzard bought up all the cheap leather after the initial suggestion that LW wouldn’t feel mandatory before coming out with this genius solution to basically make LW mandatory again.
I seriously am so confusion right now.
Might as well just leave us with the 2.3 drums in from the start.
Terrible change… all you have done is made them even MORE mandatory and more sweaty.
Pony the heck up and do what you said. Change Drums and don’t make them mandatory for every single player in the raid.
Is this an in-season April Fools joke?
How long before the clefthoof mafias form do you think?
leatherworkers get to make bop gear, boe gear, leg enchants, and personal buffed leg enchants. It is just like tailoring and better than any other profession for those that can wear that gear. There is nothing wrong with LW without drums.
