Fully. If people took a step back they’d see that it wasnt THAT great. Personally I started a few months before Sunwell so by the time i got my feet on the ground it was LK and I loved the music, the zones, the art and so on but its FAR from perfect.
I mean afterall it did give me a current 18 year (and counting) addiction to Death Knights so…theres that lol
if i remember correctly, the base complained it was too hard and left, they nerfed the game, then everyone complained it was too easy, jyust can’t please some player bases
Because they don’t want 5 versions of the game active at the same time.
So they keep the base Classic ‘Era’ up forever as the “original” then iterate on the “newest” Classic version and that’s it.
I do think WotLK is peak “Classic WoW” so it’s a bit sad, but it makes sense what they’re doing.
Maybe if their plan was just “Vanilla - TBC - WotLK” they would have just left servers up for each one. But obviously that’s not how they want to do Classic.
They really never left. I never played one, but I keep hearing about them.
They’re adding Cata Classic because they need to prove that the changes they made in Cata would have been more successful than the nerfs that followed after the accounting department told them to cut it out after so many players unsubbed. They need to remove Wrath so players who are currently playing it will have no choice but to play Cata Classic to boost participation numbers. And if they don’t want to, the characters will still be boosted into Cata and can be reported as participating players, even if they never log in again.
Yes. Nice +1. Aside from that, most loved the talent changes. It removed a lot of pointless fluff.
In the first few weeks, yea.
I had those on farm pretty quick. Heck, I lead pugs through LFG and did the achievs. In S2, I was soloing them as blood dk for the mounts.
So…
You mean they added more and made the game more than the classic design of mana drain/auto attack simulator?
I know I had my most fun as a healer/caster during cata. Specs became more complex and they removed the worry of having to constantly drink as a dps.
One problem is they’ve never had to maintain a game economy into perpetuity like that, they’ve always had an expansion come along as a great reset to trip up the bots for a little bit, granted for a much shorter time the second time around.
Look at the state of the economy and botting at the end of wrath. Not to mention how over the top the gatekeeping becomes.
It just bleeds players until there’s nothing left of the player base but the absolute worst of them, and an army of bots.
These were two different groups with different playstyles. The playerbase is made up of different demographics with different skillsets and preferences. So of course the people who stayed because they liked the difficulty were unhappy it got nerfed.
