Why get rid of Lich King Classic, but add cataclysm Blizzard?

Fully. If people took a step back they’d see that it wasnt THAT great. Personally I started a few months before Sunwell so by the time i got my feet on the ground it was LK and I loved the music, the zones, the art and so on but its FAR from perfect.

I mean afterall it did give me a current 18 year (and counting) addiction to Death Knights so…theres that lol

It was, yes. The reception to the old world getting gutted was extremely negative, as was heroic dungeons being near impossible.

Oh, you mean when everything was homogenized?! Do tell me more!!

Proof is in the pudding dear.

Wrath was not the best. I’d argue cata is a more complete version of the game.

Wrath was wow on easy mode

if i remember correctly, the base complained it was too hard and left, they nerfed the game, then everyone complained it was too easy, jyust can’t please some player bases

Watching Auberdine (the place I LOVED to hang out in with my dad when he played WoW) get wrecked affected my brain chemistry as youngling

Because they don’t want 5 versions of the game active at the same time.

So they keep the base Classic ‘Era’ up forever as the “original” then iterate on the “newest” Classic version and that’s it.

I do think WotLK is peak “Classic WoW” so it’s a bit sad, but it makes sense what they’re doing.

Maybe if their plan was just “Vanilla - TBC - WotLK” they would have just left servers up for each one. But obviously that’s not how they want to do Classic.

They really never left. I never played one, but I keep hearing about them.

They’re adding Cata Classic because they need to prove that the changes they made in Cata would have been more successful than the nerfs that followed after the accounting department told them to cut it out after so many players unsubbed. They need to remove Wrath so players who are currently playing it will have no choice but to play Cata Classic to boost participation numbers. And if they don’t want to, the characters will still be boosted into Cata and can be reported as participating players, even if they never log in again.

Yes. Nice +1. Aside from that, most loved the talent changes. It removed a lot of pointless fluff.

In the first few weeks, yea.
I had those on farm pretty quick. Heck, I lead pugs through LFG and did the achievs. In S2, I was soloing them as blood dk for the mounts.
So…

You mean they added more and made the game more than the classic design of mana drain/auto attack simulator?

I know I had my most fun as a healer/caster during cata. Specs became more complex and they removed the worry of having to constantly drink as a dps.

Careful, your nostalgia is showing, dear.

a good solution to this is to have 3 versions of the game, vanilla, lich king, and retail, do we need or care about the others?

One problem is they’ve never had to maintain a game economy into perpetuity like that, they’ve always had an expansion come along as a great reset to trip up the bots for a little bit, granted for a much shorter time the second time around.

Look at the state of the economy and botting at the end of wrath. Not to mention how over the top the gatekeeping becomes.

It just bleeds players until there’s nothing left of the player base but the absolute worst of them, and an army of bots.

Thanks! I’m not sorry that statistics prove that Cata was flat out trash lol.

I mean my god even the end raid was received very negatively, a reused and rehashed culmination of garbage.

Same here.
I made my dk in wrath, but she took off in cata. Dk main going strong ever since.

These were two different groups with different playstyles. The playerbase is made up of different demographics with different skillsets and preferences. So of course the people who stayed because they liked the difficulty were unhappy it got nerfed.

Blizzard about to find out again.

While I hated Cata and quit shorly after it launched, I do have to say it was fun/wild getting Mutilate at level 10 or Mangle at level 10 for Druids.

Other than that though, my interest waned very quickly.

They know, it’s why they are making it shorter to try and cash in on MoP classic sooner.

This is pretty low investment from them tbh. If classic has taught them anything, it’s that y’all will come back.

This is where I think It’ll pick up HUGELY again. MoP classic and Legion Classic (lol). With Cata and WoD being very accelerated.

WoD should just be a freestanding PvP game.

DK is the only class I did mage tower all 3 times before and then again for armor. If thats not proof of my “problem” idk what it lol
