I worked it out, I couldn’t put my finger on it exactly as I am enjoying my time in classic, but it just feels so different. We all know why it is different, but that feeling…
In AV last night i worked it out. I looked around and saw 10 glowing green staffs, 5 druids with cenarion shoulders/stormrage helm, bunch of t2 warrior helmets, like 3 hand of rags, and it clicked.
There is no “Wooooww look at that guy, decked! I want to get that $hit” feeling. Everyone is geared, its basically retail, and I think that was what we really wanted the most from classic - to get away from no name nothing ilvl gear.
I am hoping it is just the patch vs MC which is causing this, and going into AQ etc. it will improve. Because I enjoy classic much more than retail, but if we could get THAT feeling back… I think it would really add to the experience.
Why would you get that feeling again since Vanilla came and gone? You can still get that gear today. Also, doing content a lot of us already did when WoW was current in Vanilla, seeing someone decked out in tier gear or a legendary etc. wouldn’t bring that feeling back to me. Classic is a joke when it comes to progression imo. People are pugging raids like crazy when back in Vanilla the only pugs were when guilds were a few people short. There were very rarely any type of fresh MC or Ony pug runs that weren’t guild run.
you are enjoying the same game you played 15 years about but what has changes is the player base thats what feels off.yea i also see every shaman and warriors with rag the gear everyone seams to have it unlike before but that goes back to ame game different player base.
im an ele shaman in diermaul blues just nuking warriors, paladins with 1300 chain lightning crits and 1200 earth shock crits.it all goes back to same 15 year old game different playerbase.
Well, most of the reason people are here is nostalgia? Or wanting to experience something they didn’t as they joined after vanilla. So I don’t think you can say that Estacia.
If you call MC geared i suppose, but its not that much better than BIS preraid stuff. Now when Naxx is out and half the people are sporting t3 then yea, you’ll have a point
You’ll definetly start to see the gear gap even come BWL. There will only be a couple guilds per server that have Nef on farm before ZG comes out. AQ it will be even more apparent because it’s not puggable and has large pre-requisites.
your not the same player you were 15 years ago and its the same 15 year old game…yep its in my post.
knid of why i stopped playing vanilla back then i didnt raid i just pvped and launching ab in phase 5 is to long for me to just av thats all i do because of wsg premades.
I played at release and had all the gear on my hunter. I have screenshots of people being scared to of me due to my epic bow and 1000g mount. Only about 20% of players raided back then. I had people compliment me on gear too, frequently.
Now everyone raids and everyone has gear. It’s all about BIS not sets. Yes, things should change when we get to BWL, AQ40, Naxx 40 etc with regards to who has what. Either way it’s fine.
The game still feels a lot like Vanilla to me, just with more people who are more into raiding and gearing than they were before.
It’s not difficult to obtain, but still a much much higher percentage of people will be doing raid content this time around than originally. It was 10% of players back then at best and now it is like 90%.
You are not wrong, it would take a week to clear content back then because of one reason that no one wants to say or highlight, we weren’t good then.
Now it just takes mere an hour or 3 at most. I’m not going to say it has anything to do with it being 1.12. All I’m going to say it has EVERYTHING to do with players playing the same game for 10+ years, and doing the same reroll rush to 60 over and over again for 10+ years.
We knew it was going to be like this. A lot of players are over geared imo. Maybe blizzard SHOULD buff encounters on every dungeon and raid? But all in all, I do not think that’s the issue. The real issue is player skill/knowledge. Compared to vanilla, Classic, imo, is hot garbage. There’s no “social” aspect like I remember. It wasn’t only restricted to be a guild only thing, it was the whole faction. But since there’s WAY MORE PLAYERS on a realm, it’s no big deal seeing so many players being geared. It doesn’t feel…limited.
Cross-realm BGs with a massively inflated player pool are also an issue.
There’s just so many players in the pool…not only do you never see anyone again, but it means that there are going to be more people at the top end of the bell curve, in terms of raw numbers, because there’s more people involved overall.
Yea the x-realm straight up is a mistake - it instantly took away player identity. And was a missed opportunity as a tool to help faction imbalance. Also detracts from the vanilla experience (and yes i know they were in vanilla, but so was 2.0 patch talents but if they added talent rows tomorrow im sure you wouldnt make the same argument.
