Why fireamage's ignite has to work like HOT?

As the P5 ready to be released in next couple months. Frost no longer should be the meta for the next coming raid: AQL 25/40 for mage.

Cuz there are more crit and hit gears available out there in AQL 25/40 raid, and no fire imm in AQL. Fire mage could’ve had much more potential than frost in AQL 25/40 raid, even in NAXX.

However, one of the fire mage’s core dam resources: ignite has to work like HOT, which takes one dot slot off target and only counts the highest incoming fire dam origin.

Personally, I don’t think it should works like this. It’s surely discouraging most of mages swap from frost to fire. Because, there is no point to have more than one fire mage in the raid in the current situation. What’s worse, in lots of hard core/semi hard core guild, range classes are kind of less favorable for them. As the builds for melee classes making even more improvements in P5/P6, range classes could’ve possible being replaced by another melee class or just simple forced to reroll another melee class.

Mage has the highest proportion in most raid guild. By changing the ignite mechanics can simple help range classes to save their spots in the next coming P5, and even P6.

Sooooo, what you guys think?

I know, wait until he finds out that 1 mage get all the threat from rolling ignites. /mindblown

I think you should go so some reading on mages.

Understandably, you posted from a retail character to either troll people here or hide the fact that you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I play as fire now. just shoot frostbolts at red and black things. humans wearing red robes arent weak to red spells.

Ignite is a dot.

When a mage crits the crit adds an ignite to the mob that does 40% of the crit damage as a dot.

The ignite dot is refreshed if any other mage fire spells crit, the damage of that crit is then added to the old crit damage and it also refreshes the ignite.

That’s what a rolling ignite is. Now the threat of ALL the ignites are only put on the first mage who crit and started the ignite chain.

How much threat does the ignite generate over its continuously refreshing duration/increasing tick damage? Does it actually become enough to be noticeable?

This is the first time I’ve actually heard of this - never played a mage - so I’m genuinely curious.

Higher threat than anything in the game. It’s a bug that I imagine won’t get fixed because “authenticity”.

still better that all threat goes to one mage than it is that each mage has an ignite of their own pushing debuffs off target.

Ignite is constantly ticking for 2000+ with geared mages going all out.

You need frost mages to kill Viscidus in AQ40.

Unlike retail, fire mages can still cast frostbolt.

Oh wow… dang. That’s crazy.

Viscidus is based on number of hits, not damage. The only benefit gleaned from frost mages would be 0.5 seconds off every frostbolt cast.

He’s also completely optional.

That is untrue. Most people will just use frost damage weapons and mages will just use a lower rank of frostbolt to shatter the boss so that he goes into his next form.

It’s annoying how much misinformation exists on these forums.

is just the threat or the original mage also gets the ignite damage?

You get credit for the damage, which is why you get the threat.

LOL… No… You don’t…

He’s bases off number of hits.

You can literally wand him with a frost wand.
