Why even implement this voidcore system?

Is this in any way interesting? I’m all about “number go up”, but what is really the point in creating this system to upgrade 3 slots? Is this really improving the player experience? It’s not all that complicated, but it’s also poorly explained enough to cause confusion among players. I don’t get it. It just seems kinda dumb.

Just another head scratcher from this trainwreck of an expansion.

because the weapon and trinket slots are the slot that have the biggest impact in the game so anything that gives them a boost will give your toon a big improvement.

Do you think upgrading 3 slots is more interesting than the typical borrowed power?

It doesn’t make any sense. Why would you log in just to make your ilvl increase, if you weren’t already planning to log in to do something with that ilvl?

Borrowed power honestly has always been a crapshoot on if it’s good or not.

This is honestly just a diff version of that extra ilvl for crafted gear thing they did last xpac but now for all weapons and trinkets.

I’m fine with this because it’s not something that has the potental to be stupid crazy broken or just plain worthless everyone will get at least some benefit without it breaking anything and won’t really punish people for not having it like some borrowed powers in the past have.

Do i think it’s interesting not really but not everything has to be interesting to make it worth using this still gives a nice boost will you notice it not really but the effects should be nice.

It seems every time they try to iterate on something interesting they’ve done it always ends up a worse version. It straight up feels like the “Okay that was successful, how can we do it again, but cheaper in terms of effort and reward, and in a way that makes us more money”.

It’s like a surprise at the bottom of crackerjacks.

You’ll eat through the garbage for the prize to learn it’s not a temporary tattoo. it’s not even a sticker.

It’s a drawing on a piece of paper the size of a quarter.

.. OH!

It’s kind of A LOT like when Ralphie got his decoder ring and the secret code was a commercial.

What it reminds me of is car manufacturers. I mean, our ideal version of a game developer is like Ferrari, or Porsche or something, but the truth is Blizzard (and their overlords) are really just Ford. And Blizzard isn’t like the cool racing division of Ford, no, it’s the one that turns out hatchbacks. Each year we get some new feature, that isn’t really that great, but it’s sold to us as great, and we find out that while technically the features as a whole are probably better, that now we have to pay for licenses for the radio features, or have to subscribe to use the power seats, or perhaps there’s an extra fee to be able to use the sunroof or something.

At the end of the day, all the ‘features’ just feel like we are bleeding the slow death.

It’s the ilvl increase of turbo boost, without it being an even further excessive farm for every gear slot. Like this it’s just whatever weapons and trinkets you’ll be using for the specs you play.

Once the deterministic drops come by with the hotfix later it’ll be pretty darn quick to obtain and keep in stock for items you get later on if you’re not holding your bis weapons/trinkets right this minute.

What is a “radiance crafted weapon of trinket”?

I understand all of that, but I just don’t get the point. Seems like a lot of hooplah for “here is a couple item levels for playing the game.”

They could have just uncapped crests for the same effect with less nonsense.

It’s all about forced subscriber time and forced content engagement. They use these to:

a) justify content

b) drive future content development

c) line pockets

(notice no d - make player game time feel more enjoyable).

Ponder this..

If this made the cut. what kind of excrement didnt.

that furniture hide and seek game made the cut. One can only imagine what didn’t.

It helps nerf content without making it excessively degenerate and draining to farm.

The turbo boost being 2x tracks to upgrade every single item was kinda getting on the annoying side especially if you were almost done with your gearing for the tier. The problem was exacerbated even further for the CE clears that happen just after HoF closes, meaning players would have to farm 600 myth track crests at minimum with current upgrade costs. That’s 37.5 runs of a +12 dungeon.

This is a lot less degenerate once those fixes come in the next day. You’ve got quick daily / weekly avenues available through preys, bountiful delves and H raid kills meaning a lot less time will effectively be spent doing the same content to get your items upgraded to where they need to be at for getting your remaining last or couple prog bosses down.

It isn’t working.

How does voidcore make them more money? You could farm all 3 upgrades in an hour or two yesterday. It will be even faster today when they hotfix. How does this keep anyone subscribed longer?
