☎ Why dont you use ingame voice chat in PUGs?

I tried it back when it was first implemented and it was the worst voice chat I had ever used. So I never used it again. Vent and skype were always an option so there was no need to deal with the crap ingame voice chat.

I have been meaning to try it again to see if it’s a little bit better. But who doesn’t have discord at this point?

Discord groups are also player run, so are better moderated. If someone breaks any of the groups rules, they can get banned/booted from that group. Blizz doesn’t enforce their Code of conduct very much so the rules are mostly disregarded because there’s no penalty for ignoring them.

For one time pugs, I’m not sure. Joining the in game voice is easier than typing a discord link and joining a server you’re never going to use again.

In general, discord is just better. Much better for organized raiding and communities you keep in touch with.

Zero desire to be told by another group of PuGs to get back in the kitchen or have them hitting on me when I’m trying to explain a fight or being asked if I think it’s hot they’re whacking off to my voice.

I’ve got Discord and I’m often in voice there. I have no reason to be on the voice in-game any longer. It was definitely something that never needed to be brought into the game in the first place.

Pretty darn simple - I don’t want to hear the 13 year old whiny voices complaining about every little thing we see them do with text right now. It will also be worse because people can talk much faster than type. So no thank you.

its why i dont use it much in overwatch either, i usually just join a private channel with my friends

Because I’m almost completely deaf and without being able to see someone’s mouth I have to ask new people to repeat themselves over and over. Text and typing is much better.

I wouldn’t want to with how gaming culture has been turned into the toxic mess it is today. Used to be I could say what I wanted when I wanted. I don’t trust blizzard to keep that gold standard.

That turns in game voice chat into something people can only annoy me with. I have zero desire to enter into random chats without the ability to banter back.

I actually use in-game voice chat. It’s a lot better than it used to be, but you get dc’d if you swap characters, which is annoying and sometimes it messes up and doesn’t work and you have to log out and log back in to fix it.

The same reason I stopped using voice chat on Xbox and PS.

I don’t need people telling me what they did to my mother whilst calling me every racial epitaph in the book .

I don’t use it because I have no desire to listen to immature and toxic chatter when I am playing my game.

Because I’m antisocial af and don’t want to talk to people I don’t know.

Blaming Blizzard, or any other gaming company, for the toxicity of its gamers is foolish. Social Media platforms started the toxicity. It’s not their fault either. It’s who we are as humans.

We want to do good, but we also want to do bad. Couple that with our built-in filter of what we say taken away (due to immediate response via text or voice chat), and toxicity is the natural next step. There’s nothing anyone can do about it. As long as these channels are available, toxicity will always be there.

I would reread what wrote. I think you misunderstood my point.

Because I really want to to hear a wanna-be edgelord 10 year old talk smack.

we usually use discord. But… lately when I run fun random BGs with friends we will use the new feature, FINALLY, because of how easily accessible it is.

Otherwise discord is simply our go to for larger groups because we’ve had our channel for a long time.

You are correct, my bad. My point still stands, but only in general, not related to yours.

Don’t forget the people who brag about how stoned they are…

Voice chats can be extremely annoying especially in a pug setting. Some people are very obnoxious and some are not, some are to shy and others are not shy enough. There is also the creeper factor that turns alot of ladies off some people have no filter or manners.

Because I only ever talk if I’m required to, and prefer to look up everything I need beforehand.

I would much rather listen to music than listen to strangers talk.

Unless I’m doing progression or a high M+ key, there’s not really a good reason to be using voice chat. And both of those are things that I do with either my raid team, or my friends, so we’re in Discord already.

If I’m in a pug, the leader will either link a Discord channel to join, or will simply assume that everyone knows the strategies, and the run will be completely silent with maybe someone requesting a strategy confirmation before a fight, or a healer asking for a second for mana.
