☎ Why dont you use ingame voice chat in PUGs?

I have no interest in talking to people I will never encounter again

I’ve tried vocal exercises ( Cant get hormones yet because money ) but nothing seems to work. I have to be super freaking tired and just waking up in order to have a low enough voice that doesn’t make me feel like my soul is way off somewhere else compared to where my body is

Couldn’t agree more. That, or if I have a bad cold or something that affects my voice. Such a pain >.>

I don’t use it because I have zero need for it at the moment.

Everything I do that requires voice chat has me sitting in my Discord server. Everything else I do that does not involve voice chat has me… well sitting in my Discord server

Many people don’t like the sound of their own voices because it doesn’t match the voice we use in our own heads.

I mean that seriously even though jokes could be made, that is the reason most people who dislike hearing themselves talk state.

It doesn’t matter if your dysphoric/trans/whatever, you’re human so your voice is going to sound better to others than it will to you.

Same for the others who have a dislike for their own voices.

I dont use voice with total strangers. Its unmoderated.

While I understand that part. Dysphoria just has its own side effects that people that just don’t like the sound of their voice don’t deal with.

I was fine with my voice for example until puberty hit

But chatting live on the internet with billions of people that’s perfectly okay.

I feel like it just came to late now.

I actually think is pretty damn good, but VOIPS like Ventrilo, Mumble, Discord, Curse, TeamSpeak all been around for longer time so people got used to them.

Basically, It’s because in text I have control over what i have to deal with. If i join voice, I have to relinquish that control with the chance someone says something I don’t like and then leave. I’d rather not deal with the hassle anymore.

This community has gotten much worse recently, and I’m just not willing to deal with any of it anymore. I’m too old to be willing to subject myself to any amount of BS i don’t want to deal with these days. So it’s easier to just not bother. If they REALLY need to talk to me, there’s a chat box easily accessible. If it’s a raid, I’d be in Discord with the raid group. It’s just got far more functionality and usefulness.

I have anxiety, so I don’t usually tend to use online chats with people I dont know beforehand.

Also like… I’m not gonna throw shade but some people in this game would seriously stand to invest a lil bit of pocket change for a better mic.

I don’t like using a voice chat, it detracts from my enjoyment of the game itself.

Because the game is designed to not need it and if we do need it we use third party addons.

I dont do content that requires talking. I guess I could use it for BGs but I’m not doing rated so…

Also I let my SO borrow my headset a while back and I think its gone now. >_> Ah, all is well, nobody needs to hear my voice and mistake me for someone a third my age anyways lol :yum:

After 5-6 times of “that one person” asking

“where is the button? where is the button?? I don’t see it…”

“How can you NOT see it? It’s RIGHT THERE next to the chat window!”

“uhhh i dunno, my bf gave me a cool UI and everything is all different, I don’t know where anything is.”

facepalm
-and after 10 mins of messing around trying to get this dingbat to join in-game voice…

“Can we just join one of the Discord channels, please???”

Eh. If I see someone else turn it on, I do too. If they wind up being a screaming child, I turn it off.

Honestly very little content exists that really warrants voice, and what little does is almost always done through offsite (and better) voice like Discord. Unless you’re raiding Heroic or pushing keys there’s not much point.

I don’t do mic or headset.

One thing I hated the most when I used to raid is people chatting in my ear, people screaming, background noise, etc

I hate playing xbox sometimes, hearing kids and adults screaming, cursing, trolling, wish I could just turn them off, and leave the game noise on, there’s probably a way but I haven’t found it.

I don’t do anything serious enough to necessitate speaking and I have very bad memories of the first time they tried to introduce in-game voice.

We were using if for running dungeons, just 2 problems.

1- the 2 others i was playing with unsubed after 14yrs

2- just dont like the dungeon design so stopped quen. Myth plus would be fun but the timer kills it.

When we were running heroic and reg myth we would pick up 2 pugs… never had a prob with anyone getting on the ingame chat - problem was it did not work half the time.

Guild chat in the ingame would work but half of the time when you moved to the group chat it would say you were the only person in there to everyone who joined. Go back to guild voice and it worked fine… easier to not deal with it
