if there’s one thing you want to avoid if you have hooves is hoof damage. if you’ve ever owned or cared for hoofed animals then you would know how severely debilitating hoof injuries can be depending on the severity and often need immediate care for there to be a recovery. similar to my issue with the lack of footwear for trolls, i imagine their hooves to be quite durable but i doubt they would be as resistant or durable as actual boots
They may well do so in some cases, but Blizzard is not going to put in the effort to make that work properly.
Also they seem to use some fashion of metallic horseshoes… which I guess does offer some protection.
Magic. It always boils down to magic if logic can’t properly explain it. That’s my take and I’m sticking to it
A lot of the issues with things like cow hooves is they step on something like a rock and it gets stuck and over time as they walk around it just gets pushed deeper and deeper into the hoof until it causes a problem.
A tauren could simply remove the rock before it became a problem.
To be honest, having hooves is lot better when you walk in the grass, it makes no sound at all compared to using shooes.
And i mean, why would they use shooes if they have naturally shaped hooves that allow them to climbs mountains?
Like did you see how goats can climbs? They can literally walk in nearly fully vertical grounds!
A Wizard Khdgar did it!
Blizzard didn’t want to model special shoes for them.
Same reason Trolls don’t wear shoes.
It’s actually uncertain if bipedal locomotion on hooved feet is even possible.
I mean…
If gnomes can standing jump higher than their own body height repeatedly and on demand, and run just as fast as a night elf, tauren, vulpet, etc…
I think hooved feet capable of bipedal movement are among the least interesting things about Azerothian leg biology.
Oi, trolls are just fine as they are. Covering troll feet is odd.
Some feet transmogs don’t even fully enclose Pandaren toes either. Particularly early WoW ones.
They really just need to give both customization options for hoof plates.
Funniest part about this thread is that I hear so many people saying that because naga cant wear boots, they wont be playable.
Boots, can’t ride ground or flying mounts, extremely limited mog options, etc. There’s a ton of reasons why blizz won’t make them playable in their current form
The “Naga can’t wear boots/pants/whatever” argument went all the way out the window when Mechagnomes were released, but the mount issue is still a solid wall imo. They are not going to release a race that cannot interact with the mount system. The only way Naga will ever be playable is if they let them shapeshift, basically Fishthyr.
As for the OP question, every piece of armor in the game is designed to be worn by the Human Male model first, the human female model second, and everyone else a distant, distant third. Yes, even the ones locked to other races.
This is apparent with footwear, sure, but even more apparent with headwear. For a race with a huge variety of head shapes and long horns, the Draenei sure do wear a lot of totally enclosed helmets.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I visit my farrier once every other week.
My hooves always look amazing.
Well yeah. I was mostly responding to how they walk and grass or whatever.
Though the gnomes jumping isn’t a probable.
Don’t know about running. I have noticed that mounts animation doesn’t match how they would need to run at the same speed.
But of course, Blizzard changes the size of characters from scene to scene. So one suspects they don’t worry a lot about it.
Even if they can’t make a realistic piece of armor for weird races (and by “can’t” I mean “will never make enough effort”) they could always just make “hidden” the only option. Any one who wants to play that race should be willing to put up with that rather than not have them at all.
There was that quest where you helped a Goblin come up with a new horn polish. Do you use that?
You ever see shoes on a horse? Outside of those that are nailed on?
