Why Don't I Feel Hyped for The War Within?

I think people that get hung up on the flying thing are missing the forest for the trees. If the content is fun, then people will enjoy obtaining static flight. If the content isn’t fun, then adding flying isn’t suddenly going to make it great to play.

I think the problem with the game as it stands now is “fun” has to check certain boxes. It’s like the devs are out of touch with normal people and are just relying on a set formula to determine an outcome.

It falls flat.

I dont think it really matters either way.

Even if someone hates skyriding and refuses to participate in it, they will have regular flying unlocked within the first few days of playing.

So its just a minor inconvenience for a few hours as they did design the expansion with not using it in mind as well.

Which of course leads to the question of “why even bother implementing a pathfinder thats practically completed by hitting level 80” and to that i say… :person_shrugging:

They are though when they specifically mention it lol.

The marketing certainly hasn’t helped, it’s built zero story up-front.

As somebody who doesn’t read every spoiler article on wowhead and hasn’t been in the beta, I have no idea what’s going on in TWW, apart from “we have to go deeper to find out what’s troubling Azeroth and there are Nerubians”.

And the cinematic was an F. People compare it to vanilla cinematic… well, vanilla didn’t have a story, either. So we’re just accepting that this is a story-less expansion?

Say what you want about Dragonflight being an empty tub of Cool Whip when it came to content, but at least its intro cinematic told a story, and set up another series of stories.

TWW cinematic is nothing but a series of instagram images.

Except not the ones you want to see .

Idk how pathfinder works in TWW but the real reason is likely to slow down bots so the playerbase can have fun gathering and earn gold early on.

The old flying system is just perfect for botting.

I still hate how pathfinder is required though. While I don’t use the old flying system I have friends that prefer it.

If that was the case, it’s only going to speed botting up. People will have steady flight the same day the expansion drops lol.

Edit: Well, as long as the servers don’t die lol.

Its literally just do the campaign and explore the zones.
The story isnt time locked as far as anyone knows, so this should be doable on day 1 if you played long enough.

It’s hard to watch the trailer for Wrath or BFA then the one for War Within. The previous ones showcase characters but in an exciting, storybased way. This? Eh… kind of random. And one of the characters really looks like they escaped from Diablo.

There’s 4 features. Dwarf ally race, what would be Covenant abilities but without the Covenant, Delves that cap at Hero gear, and account bound QoL.

Because the story ended like 7 years ago when the primary antagonist of the setting was defeated. Everything since then has been a practice of throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.

So, you agree that losing out on the ability to fly via skyriding isn’t a big deal considering we haven’t had it for nearly 2 decades.

However you disagree that the flying we should start with in TWW first should be steady flying with skyriding be the unlockable form because you don’t believe video games should take into account people with personal struggles like motion sickness (We recently got Arachnophobia mode so Blizzard already invalidated you on this one) even though the loss of skyriding over steady flying would be something you just agreed with not being a major loss because, again, we didn’t have it for nearly 2 decades and were fine.

So because Blizzard decided to go with skyriding and not normal flying first “Haha, sucks, die” is your statement for people who would rather it be the other way around for their own reasons which has virtually no fallback since you’ll still be able to fly anyways.

Additionally claiming that my compassion for people suffering difficulties to forward some sort of argument against you is a vile and abhorrent assumption on your part. These struggles are not mine, I have no difficulty with skyriding, I play a Dracthyr with a skyriding racial that frankly I use a LOT over steady flight.

Towards somebody in this thread who wasn’t even directing their post at you,

you went out of your way to comment sarcastically to them about why previous pathfinders were okay when this one isn’t,

yet failed entirely to regard that the obvious reason is the fact that the only form of flight they’d have available would be skyriding and they specifically, not even hiding it, stated it’s because they didn’t want the flying to make them sick.

Your argument was then that they don’t get to enjoy flying because of their struggles and your only defense is “Blizzard chose this one, because yeah, looks like you’ll be stuck with using ground mounts because sucks to suck”

You’re quite disgusting and only looking to be toxic for no reason towards people for wanting the other side of an option that has already been made available anyhow.

TWW → Skyriding → Unlock Steady Flying with Pathfinder
TWW → Steady Flying → Unlock Skyriding with Pathfinder

In either of these options where do you not get to fly and what are you so upset about?

I got banned and my last post removed for my honest thoughts.

It seems short sighted for the 20th anniversary of WoW and the expansion releasing that year to not be a complete revamp of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. That would have got me hyped.

Blizzard’s arrogant developers don’t want to work on somebody else’s creation, though. They want to create their own things, so when they leave Blizzard in a couple years they have a portfolio of original stuff to show their next employer.

We saved Azeroth back in BfA and now we’re doing the same thing again but with a villain we helped create.

And the fight against the villain will probably follow the same pattern as before. 1st round: defeat Big Bad but learn about the real Big Bad. 2nd round: Deal with and defeat a new mini-Big Bad whose death paves the way for the Big Bad. 3rd round: Big Bad finally shows up and either is defeated or escapes to come back again.

Usually the lore/story can at least add a bit of originality to the gameplay but again, we’re saving Azeroth again.

I agree! Now that would have been epic! Blizzard needs to hire you

That’s pretty pointless then. No clue why they do it unless it has something to do with Druids cheesing quests.

Yes.

I never disagreed with that and no, Blizzard didn’t invalidate me on anything lol.

I’m sure the hyperbole sounded better in your head but here, it just makes you seem like a lunatic lol.

If they aren’t yours, you shouldn’t use them as an argument.

Or because they complained about Pathfinder because, when you actually read what they said, it was specifically targeting pathfinder lol.

Sure, but I’m not the one trying to use people with disabilities to go off on some tirade about a non issue lol.

Which comment did I make that made me appear upset? Keep in mind, I’m not the one going off on a rant, you are lol.

Because theres nothing exciting about it. Same old stuff.
