Why DON’T you play some classes?

For perspective I main arms/prot and Alt Ret/Holy/Prot paladin. I have played every class over the years and some are more fun than others. As in played, I mean had some fun with at max level, such as dungeons and PVP. It does not necessarily mean I played them all well. Of course theme, spell effects, and sounds make a difference too.

Keep in mind that my understanding of these specs or talent choices since I don’t main them is possibly wrong, so maybe there are ways around these complaints. At the end of the day though we are all different and enjoy different play styles. Have fun!

I don’t main any evoker spec because I think they look dumb. It doesn’t look dragon to me. I know some people like it, that’s fine. I just don’t. So my reasoning here is solely aesthetics.

I don’t main any shaman spec because… shaman is a love hate relationship, I actually do love shaman but my biggest grief is the amount of abilities and hot keys I actually need in order to play it well. I like the theme, the effects, and the overall playstyle. Shaman is fun. played ele back in wrath, but anymore it’s usually resto or enhance. I have tried to reduce the amount of totems and spell talents to reduce the amount of abilities but honestly you need a lot of them. So I don’t play much shaman as of lately. I like having a decent amount of abilities for different situations but shaman is at a whole other level.

I don’t main Frost Dk… although the general rotation is actually fun to use and snappy it feels like the class relies too heavily on 2 and 3 min CD’s. Typically classes that have longer cds I get tired of quickly. It’s not fun having to wait that long to use my CD’s. I mean if it was just one 2 min cd then okay that’s fine, but don’t you have to run the 3 min? If you could do well with only breath of sindragosa that would be cool. As a perspective, my CDs on arms is 1.5 min and that is the most I would want to wait to push the big buttons. Obviously the way it’s “suppose” to work is the longer the CD the stronger the ability is. Frost dk seem to be doing good right now and I’m glad I’m seeing them back!

I don’t main Unholy DK… Ok, From a simple fun factor or even “funny” factor unholy dk hits the spot. Especially in pvp. The pvp talents are great. It’s hilarious to run the pet build and grab the reanimation talent that summons zombies to stun and deal good dmg when they explode. I honestly think blizzard did such a good job with unholy DK design. It really hits a perfect balance with being good, fun and even cartoon like comical. If you haven’t tried this spec with all the zombies. Try it! So what are my issues then? the actual rotation to me feels overloaded. Not in the same way as shaman though with having too many abilities. Although unholy has a lot of abilities and yes many more than frost it’s the opener that’s the issue. Especially when starting your burst, I feel like you have to press 10 buttons to get started. Unlike frost which only has a couple big cds, but long timers. Unholy has a too many cds with short timers.

Frost mage. I guess I don’t play frost simply because I feel like frost is played by everyone else? The spec itself is for the most part perfect? The rotation is easy to learn, interactive and easy to understand. Just not my cup of tea I guess. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s so easy to understand and that’s why is unappealing? Frost has some cool abilities though, ray of frost has to be my favorite. Blizzard did a good job with some of the design. Oh I forgot to mention I hate orb spells! Don’t ask me why I don’t know I just never liked the frost orb or arcane orb lol

I don’t main fire… fire is my preferred mage spec actually. From what I am hearing from the players it’s sadly not doing well right now. I like fire, it’s complex, and rewarding if played well. I know some fire mages are going to call me noob me for saying this but I think one of the coolest things is meteor lol. It’s one of the funnest aspects of fire, seeing that meteor drop and go kapow. They also reduced the amount of fireballs needed to get the auto process meteor. I enjoy popping combustion and getting my ignite spreading etc. fire is fun. Guess I’m just not playing mage right now because I’m not ready to alt one yet.

I don’t main arcane. I like arcane, I know it’s rockin right now too. I still prefer fire.

I don’t main monk because my idea of fun is not being a ninja or karate kid in any form.

I don’t main DH simply because I don’t like having to be a night elf or blood elf. Male night elf looks silly. Maybe too tall or the proportions are off. Forearms are enormous. I don’t want to be blood elf. Play style wise though DH is definitely a fun spec to play. I did some arenas on DH back in season 4 and enjoyed it. Plays kind of like fury warrior in a way. Very fast paced and push buttons! I did have to learn how to keep my fury going though, don’t laugh but that took me a minute to figure out how I keep my fury up because I would run out and be like… what do I do now lol.

I don’t main rogue because it’s hard and I’m not good at it. Pretty simple. Rogue is a play style that really doesn’t have a bunch of flexibility or room for error. You either do it how it’s suppose to be done perfectly or you don’t. I have spent time in arenas on a rogue and sure I have won a few games, but if you mess up as a rogue you’re dead. Probably one of the most unforgiving classes. I applaud all the good rogues out there who can do it and do it well. Right now on my warrior I have no issue with rogues, actually most die if they try to kill me. Except I am hearing that sub is doing well but I have only ran into 1 or 2 that were scarey. Maybe outlaw and assassination need buffs? Even though I am pained to say that lol

I don’t main warlock because my idea of class fantasy is not summoning demons and evil curses. Although I have played previously in past expansions. The class is fun to play, the new destro is super fun and I really think blizzard did a great job overall on the new hero talents.

I don’t main boomy. Don’t laugh everyone says it’s so easy but I don’t understand it. I have tried to play it and all I feel I’m doing is put up my dots and then spam either one of your fillers but there has to be more to it that I missing I can’t figure it out lol

I know I left out some… I can fill them in later just getting the thread going for now

There’s just a few ideas why I don’t. How about you?

I like the look of plate gear, prefer dps, prefer melee, prefer going in hard, prefer playing only one or two characters max… therefore warrior is my main. I have a rogue that I might get to 80 at some point. No rush.

I don’t play Druid cuz basically every horrible person I’ve ever met or seen in this game.played a Druid

I’ve been pretty steady in my class choices but the reasons for and for not are all about the same.

Warrior, just love the class fantasy first and foremost. The rotation is easy enough, I enjoy all three specs but the biggest reason I ever entertain playing another class is any lack of heals. I know I could play an engineer to get some defibrillators but I don’t much care for engineering. I just love the idea of going toe to toe with everything Azeroth and the cosmos have to offer with nothing but muscles, steel, and anger. Don’t need to help from gods, the light, void or magic. Just brawn and blade.

Monks, my first real alt I enjoyed after warrior. I like the sound effects, still no reliance on outside sources for their strength (for the most part). When I do play monk I like to make my weapons brass knuckles to give the appearance of barehanded brawling as a warrior who put down his weapons to find peace kind of thing. Can still open a can of whoopa** though. And the heals, it’s great to be a melee range healer as that’s a hard habit to break.

Shaman, my only other distant love.
I can’t get behind how the class plays and I while it’s a cool ‘magic’ i get tired of hearing it all the time. I like everything it has to offer though, a tool for every occasion.

I could go down all the classes as why I don’t like them but it all comes down to being antithetical to the reasons I like the classes I do.

However I tried warlock during the remix and I had a pretty good time with it.

I don’t like classes that require a lot of ramp up time, I prefer them not to be too heavy cooldown based as I feel they’re a one trick pony. Paladains are just, too good. It’s a Superman complex for me, can’t get behind em.
Rogues, I just have an undying hatred for ever since playing on a pvp server.

Unenjoyable gameplay Is the main reason why I won’t play a spec

I dont main demonhunter cause its elf only. I hate elves. If i could be a troll demonhunter id prob main that.

Yea same reasons I play warrior. I have main warrior many expansions now and it doesn’t get old. I think you said it well that you’re not relying on any special powers or entity. It’s just you, your sword and your armor.

I don’t play Demon hunter or evoker because I just don’t like their kit.

Rogues, I don’t play much because I’m bad at them.

I don’t play anything that can’t tank. If it can’t get hit by a dozen guys and go back for more, why play it?

Seriously play, at least.

I have every class at 70 but thats because of end of DF luls.

I used to like to heal as much as I like to tank, but at some point that disappeared.

I just am not a fan of being ranged or everything being about elemental magic.

So I prefer melee DPS and tank specs.

I would like feral except I have a mog addiction and in cat form, mogs are meaningless.

So its the monk, dk, warrior and pally life for me.

Rogues…eh, not a fan of being a leather class and being sneaky. Rather be right in the fray.

Ranged have a lot of cool spells though I’m jelly of.

I used to play everything. lol

But I took a lengthy break due to real life, and now find that there are some I just don’t like any longer.

At this time, I prefer (with my own little fantasy,) to be on the side of the Light, not Darkness, to help and save others from whatever nasty is out there.

So Warlock, DK, and Void Elf are shelved. I’m not fond of warrior, it feels clunky to me. Mage’s are too squisy, I solo quests, and sometimes they are good, sometimes not. Also fire is complicated, and proc dependent I think (haven’t tried it this expac.) I don’t much care for that type of play style.

Shaman I used to Love, but then they ended up going pew pew instead of pow pow and I quite them. Haven’t gone back yet.

Priest is primarily healer, and I solo quest, so not applicable for my game.

I main a WW Monk and love my Evokers. I do play a DH, because I love the play style, but not overall a fan of the theme. lol It’s what a DH is though.

Druid I used to really love. Balance was my thing. But now, it’s weird and I can’t get the hang of it. Feral is boring to me.

Hunter. Well, I used to love Hunter, but they changed it so much in SL I pretty much quit playing them. Don’t like them now either.

Rogue was massively fun, but now it’s so different, and kind of complicated I don’t enjoy it any longer. I have actually deleted my Rogue’s.

I find Paladan’s boring. Not sure why really, but I don’t enjoy playing them. Kind of clunky to me. But that’s just me…

I’ve leveled all classes except shaman and paladin; just can’t get into either of them for some reason.

I’m not a fan of Monks almost purely due to their fantasy. Punching stuff in a fantasy game where all other melee classes use cool weapons is kinda lame. Also getting drunk to tank stuff… Lol

Also think the Evoker class was an unnecessary addition to the game. I feel like they could have added something else to the game, but Evoker is just not it. Also not being able to see most of your gear on you in dragon form is a huge L imo.

I won’t play feral or guardian because I like seeing my character and Druid forms are just a convoluted mess for handling action bars.

Agreed. I’ve only ever mained Resto on my druid for this exact reason.

I did balance and resto for a bit in bfa. They are both fun imo.

I don’t touch DK or DH because I’m not an edgelord and liking how my character looks plays into my ability for it to “click” with me.

Probably partially Warlock in that category too, but I’ve at least touched Warlocks before. As very minor alts.

Could never get into Druid. While it’s strong thematically, i just can’t get over being a cat or a giant chicken. I like actually being able to see my real character.

I will not play Rogue or Feral Druid. I despise the combo point/energy/finishing move/bleed style of play.

Which means my Resto Druid is permanently shelved until they get off their high horse and stop shoving me into catweaving.
