Why don’t more WoW players PvP?

honestly there are just better games to play if I want to get my competitive juices flowing than WoW.

The abysmal class balance and having to gear separately from PvE (yeah I know they tried no gear in Legion and it sucked cause gear still kinda mattered even if it was only slightly, plus Blizzard’s stat templates for some classes made absolutely no sense) pretty much has kept me from even casually participating in PvP since Legion which I didn’t even enjoy thanks to the point above.

For me personally, WoW PVP is extremely unfun 99% of the time ESPECIALLY if you are starting with no pvp gear after not engaging in it for a long time

There’s also just way too much complexity to keep track of to make it feel like anything less than a mess to me. 16 classes, with 2-4 specs, and 2+ entire bars of abilities going back and forth, it just feels too chaotic and unclear both as a player and from a viewer experience. There’s a reason why WoW PVP has never taken off as a true esport despite the explosion of eSports scenes across all of gaming.

Even someone who has never played LoL can watch a pro LoL match and be able to have a basic grasp on what is going on, and who is ahead/behind at a given point in time.

They should just completely rework PVP as a concept in WoW and give each Spec for each class a separate preset ability bar for PVP instanced content. Each spec has X slots filled up as base abilities, and then the PvP talents serve to round out the remaining slots/passives to add that “rune page/loadout” element to it

I don’t do WoW PvP anymore because I’m tired of always playing at a disadvantage. Conquest gear shouldn’t be allowed in casual content.

I stopped PvP’ing because of PvP’ers.

From what I’ve seen recently it’s not gotten any better.

because they do not add enough pvp content

I’m still waiting for someone to make a game that’s just WoW like, but just the PvP and no gear grind, you just customize your build and go.

i dont like getting oneshot by an overpowered ret paladin. and for what i see, now is a holy paladin.

Yeah PvP really doesn’t work well in a game with so many variables. Impossible to balance.

Anyone that likes WoW pvp is probably doing rated and premades to roll noobs.

Hi Garmuck

For me, you are exactly correct.

2 thumbs up.

Pretty much this.

Rated BGs had so much potential, too.

Gear and class balancing issues.

I remember when there was more scaling for PVP gear back in BfA and how some people moaned and groaned about how a non-geared player killed their geared one, and how frustrating it was that they couldn’t roflstomp a newbie pvper just because they outgeared them.

Skill should always outweigh gear. If Blizzard wanted me to take PVP seriously, they’d adopt a system like GW2 where it’s based on what loadout you choose rather than how much you no-lifed and got your BiS pvp setup so you win based on stats rather than how well you know your class utility.

Not everyone misses their ‘good old days’ of being a high school bully I guess…

I did do world PVP in Vanilla, Wintergrasp as well as city/faction leader raids and in defending our faction leaders. These could be fun but I was never good at it, though I did get the black war bear as a healer to some massive faction leader raids back in the day.

I’ve never won a duel as I’m just that bad. So no new PvP for me, organized or not.

I agree with this, and I mostly PvP lmao.

PvP needs a rework.

It’s too bursty, meta is painful, and reward structure sucks.

Personally, I’m not interested in PvP, however, I like your idea. Especially if it would remove PvP from WoW retail.

Too bad it will probably never happen.

The biggest problem with PvP are players. If blizzard didn’t backpedal during Legion and just let templates exist with an option to choose stat weights (like in GW2) - casual pvp would be a lot more alive. Now people are just getting stomped by overgeared players.

If templates have existed - we would be able to have soloQ RBGs like in ALL (every single one) pvp-only games (league, ow2, dota2, etc)

I actually enjoyed the templates, because I could play my alts pretty easily.

yup, if pvp had everyone scale to the same item level and let skill dictate the outcome I would play it a lot, but anyone who starts playing mid season or can only play part time and is behind in gear just gets 1 shot , no fun at all.
