Just curious, I always wondered why PvP LFG felt so empty compared to PvE.
because its a video game, not a table top pen and paper ROLE playing game.
Cuz wow pvp sucks
Cowardice, plain and simple.
It’s no fun being camped at the graveyard by a group of toxic players so yeah no PvP can die off for all I care
Because people don’t want to PvP against characters wearing better gear. Games like DotA/LoL manage to create an even field where players can compete in fairness (kinda, not perfect obviously). There is no fun in fighting against someone with better gear, IMO.
Because half of the people who pvp are on deserter bebuffs most of the time lol.
aww crap its WG…/afk. 15 minute wait. Flll in comes in…aww crap it WG…/afk.
Now 2 people are out of the qeueu rotation in seconds flat.
aww crap we lost ROC lead off in ashaan…/afk. 15 minute wait.
Like all jests…there is way too much truth to this. I tried retail pvp 2 nights recently. maybe 3/10…I actually got ones I saw the 2 minute wait pre-start. 7 of them…hot drops lost loooong before I got there.
I see a way to fix that based on wrath classic pvp. Really simple too. Give people a reason to stay whole matches.
I have been in some heaping pile of dog crap WG’s in wrath. I I stay since at the end…even the loser gets a passable honor payout. and 1 mark. Marks for items…or save up to convert to honor. these add up.
Yes you want the 3 marks on win to make out better…but I will take the 1 too.
ashran needs this too. RoC failed…but here is some reward for just sticking it out.
Because the PvP portion of the gaming playerbase is the minority, and is self-consuming.
compared to what? Ive tried every pvp mmo out there and always come back to wow. Nothing like it.
I have to pvp to get the green/brown warrior set on my warrior, as green and brown is the aesthetic I go for on them
This involves me having to do battlegrounds endlessly in the hope to get enough Honour to get decent gear so my warrior doesn’t get pasted against the ground. Once that’s done, I have to work on getting enough Conquest to buy the entire set, which is a lot more of doing this for little reward. Just grinding out a currency
All of this is dependant not on my skill, but on other people, who’s progress is pointless and invalidated if we run across someone who’s done this grind earlier and can just tear us apart regardless of what we do
That’s why I don’t do pvp. I’d like the snail though but man is it not going to be fun
As someone who used to pvp a fair deal, I’d say the main reasons are due to chronic, pervasive balance issues with classes, specs, and the maps themselves, pvp just isn’t much fun. It isn’t even competitive most times. Your team either rolls or gets rolled. Close matches are the exception, not the rule.
Add in having to grind out a whole other set of gear and getting stomped on the entire time you do it rather than making all the gear equal and making pvp more skill based instead of just outgearing your opponents, most people don’t even bother.
Because if I wanted to stand around watching people I don’t really know argue incessantly while fearing for my life I’d go home for the holidays
I used to love running random epic bg’s, but I ran way too many that were just completely imbalanced, or you get queued in with toxic groups that don’t want to work together.
because pvp is very bad in this game. and theres nop way for new players to get into it
first u gotta get to lvl 10. then u can finally enter a BG
but from lvl 10-70 its all twink hunters who 1shot every1 in sight
this is obviously a very bad impression and its causing a lot of ppl to quit.
if the pvp is really bad and garbahge why would they stick around?
If blizzard swapped to the system FF14 adopted i could see participation going up, ditch the rating reward and move to a free battle pass that just reward the set/weapons/mount after X honor is achieved.
Simple. Being killed repeatedly while gearing/leveling up is no fun. It takes more dedicated time to work up to a PvP mode where it feels a bit fair and you’re not a target for everyone.
Games like EvE do it pretty well, though even there again, a bigger time effort, which is why I don’t play there any more. I didn’t want to invest that much time into a game. I’ve a career and RL that needs my time more.
PvP can be fun but the muddled mess that is the WoW experience at all levels discourages many players.
Because WoW is a pve game with a side dish of PvP, Diablo is the same. People that have a PvP focus play games that are PvP centric, like Fortnight, Overwatch or League of Legends.
Gearing up to even PvP isn’t fun.
I don’t want to be honor farmed and have no way to fight back.
Sorry man, it’s probably me creating some of those empty seats/backfills
It’s BG week so the pug players provided by the matchmaker system are way more hit or miss/way more one-sided blowouts. It’s unfortunate but as soon as I see the team isn’t going to be a good one (or they split up at the start, are goofing off, etc) I’m out
I think it comes down to a few things,
- impact
In pvp you are only as good as your weakest link. While you can carry a few people in PVE, doing so in PVP is much harder. We humans want to control the outcome of our actions, not having this ability makes us duck away.
- imbalance
In PVP you meet opponents that have better gear and skill, so you will lose. In PVE, mobs are always the same, so you can outgear them or learn their moves. It´s much easier to “win”, than in pvp so to speak, you need less effort and once mastered nobody can take it from you as the level of your enemies always stays the same.
- rewards
In PVP you just get nothing good reward wise, for your time. In a raid you participate and gain an item or at least can do so each run. In PVP you may play weeks without any upgrades, especially if you lose a lot.
There is also no real path to take, as pvp vendors with rep gear were removed / discontinued and the ranking system is for premades only.
