Why doesn't wands help mage healing?

When you apply Regeneration to a player, you apply Temporal Beacon which says 80% of ALL Arcane damage done by the caster will be converted to healing. So, why doesn’t Lesser Magic Wand, Greater Magic Wand or even Cookie’s Stirring Wand that deals ARCANE damage be counted as a small heal? Just something to stall the damage til your next missile or explosion.

This would fix mana conservation for mage healers because casting regeneration then hitting arcane explosion/arcane missiles is a mana sink. You already nerfed Arcane Explosion damage by 80% already and locked two of our late game heals behind a rep grind and a resource grind (Mass Regen and Rewind Time) so please fix this.

Looks like a bug.

Neither of these are needed to heal effectively as a tank. At this level you’ll want Arcane Blast over Rewind time for sure. Doing the rep gives extra options, but until you try to roll a rogue tank you should be forbidden from complaining about the rune grind.

But as to the point of your post, I feel like with wands hitting as hard as frostbolts you should already know why you can’t get free healing from them.

My main is the rogue tank, I already know about the issue. Is it at a lesser extent than mage healer, yes. Will I still complain about it because it’s another grind, yes.

As for your point about the wands, they need to specify Arcane Spells instead of ALL Arcane damage because that’s a bit misleading. Either that or change how a wand works like allow the wand to hit the affected Temporal Anomaly target so they get heals by the wand without doing damage to an enemy. Arcane Blast is nice but their is something missing in that chain that’s hurting mana.

I was disappointed that Clearcasting doesn’t work on the healing spells. I know it’s only supposed to work on damage abilities, but it would’ve been really cool to use the clearcasting procs on the healing abilities to save mana. Generally, I’ve just been stopping my casting when my Blasts get to 2-3 stacks and either wanding or sending frostbolt.

Yeah… Many oversights with arcane mage. Regeneration doesn’t benefit from any of the talents in the arcane tree. Would feel much better if it could benefit from Improved Arcane Missiles and Clearcasting. Wand triggering the healing would be nice, although at full effectiveness would probably be too strong. Would also be nice if arcane explosion healing had diminishing returns instead of a flat 80% nerf. Almost entirely useless now as a healing tool. Once living flame gets nerfed arcane mage healing is going to be very different.

im struggling so fing much to do anything as a mage, hard to heal, hard to dps, hard to solo level, anything that involves me casting something takes a huge chunk of mana out of me and it sucks, a priest can heal 10 times more for 10 times longer without issues, idc if the whole system makes it so that you can aoe farm, mages have always been able to aoe farm, but this is too much, having to drink everytime you press a button, meh

Blizzard probably did it on purpose because they were afraid of mass regen + wanding in BFD or something. The entire spec seems poorly balanced and it’s likely that it’s balanced around having 10+ beacons up at a time.

They made beacon application absurdly expensive and any decent healing you do besides living flame post AE nerf is also absurdly expensive outside of AB with no charges (which is up against rewind).

I know other healers mana isn’t exactly amazing in vanilla, but arcane mage is on another level of terrible. You also can’t really take advantage of vanilla downranking mechanics as well as other healers because you can’t downrank the healing spells and they’re expensive on their own. Fishing for arcane conc procs with rank 1s isn’t that amazing either.

I don’t have arcane surge yet but it’s up against living flame and mass regen so probably only good if they nerf living flame.

It used to work this way at some point. Perhaps it is a bug. Once our mana pools improve i doubt it will be an issue

I dunno dawg. Im running dungeons doing top dmg and healing and clearing 4-8 mobs at a time in the open world. I gotta drink every pull but thats the life
