Why doesn't Sylvanas just KILL Anduin?

Let’s be real, Anduin isn’t actually dumb, he’s hamstrung by the writers. Him focusing on just Sylvanas is the reason for holding back with the rest of the Horde, and that’s the narrative everyone is using, not just him. The narrative is that the Horde isn’t the problem, Sylvanas is, and pretty much all the characters are treating it as such.

Anduin’s only actual character trait hindering the Alliance is his inexperience, which isn’t too much of an issue given that everyone seems to lose all their brain cells when facing Sylvanas. Everything else is a meta-narrative issue that’s affecting every character, not just him.

I knew I’d heard it somewhere before.

Not killing him is all part on her 876598d chess plan

“This fictional character isn’t really dumb. The writers are just making him dumb.”

because she wants him to kneel and kiss her boots or rather the writers do

Because he might be replaced by someone who is more of a threat to her. Besides her goal is to have him kneel to her as all of Stormwind’s citizens are turned to undead. That doesn’t work half as well if he’s not alive.

I’d gladly trade you anduin though if you let us kill sylvanas in exchange

That wasn’t necessarily what I mean. It’s… the character isn’t being written as dumb, but the contrivance of the plot causes actions to be taken that are dumb. It’s the same as Sylvanas, she’s called a 5D chess master, super strategist, but because of the plot needing to move forward in the direction desired, she does dumb things but is still treated as smart.

Why doesn’t anyone kill anyone?

I don’t think she is trying to win the war. I think she is trying to prolong it, but we don’t know why yet.

You ask why as if there is some kind of rational explanation that involves cause and effect.

It is because Blizz do it that way. Who knows what crazy people are behind the decision making that ultimately determines the direction of the “story” of WoW.

They stick to what they know best.

Those rogues couldn’t kill Thrall who was mostly defenseless but you think they’d have a better chance at Anduin who’s likely flanked by guards 24/7?

Because Stormwind is full guarded and with its own complement of magical wards, assasins and spies of their own. Hell, most guards in Stormwind can spot you ingame even if you stealth.

If sending rogues to kill rival leaders was that easy then every race but the Tauren would have assassinated every racial leader ten times by now.

I am loathe to speak for others… but I am fairly certain Carm was being a bit sarcastic when he/she said:

So they are being consistent. In the sense that the characters are a creation of the writers, so antipathy should go to the writers.

The difference is: the poster Carm was ribbing seemed to think Anduin existed as a separate entity than what the writers portray.

As if the entity of Anduin existed without writers.

I admit I phrased it poorly, but my follow-up post explains my reasoning a bit more.

Sure. I get that. And I see your point.

I was addressing Amadis juxtaposing Carm’s statements in a way that seemed to miss the point.

Im not against forum arguments - but lets be fair and keep things in context.

Exactly… he’s written an idealist who’s actually pretty dumb when it comes to war, and who’s only winning right now because he has superior firepower.
