Why doesn't blizzard take player feedback into account?

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that it is extremely rare for them to implement player requested features.

One notable exception a long time ago was when the hearthstone CD got reduced to 30 min from 1 hour. A player made a thread suggesting this change, and blue responded by basically saying sounds good, let’s do it.

Since then, we’ve had constant player requests for things like:

–Player housing. They decided to do their own thing and make garrisons which ended quite poorly.
–Playable races. People have been wanting ogres, ethereals, tuskarr, vrykull or whatever else for years at this point, and we always get something else that ends up falling short (like diaper gnomes or dracthyr)
–New classes. People have been wanting bards, tinkerers or other classes for years. Instead we get monks and evokers, which hardly anyone plays.
–Mythic+ changes. Mythic is too toxic, the timer serves no real purpose. Stopped doing mythic in BFA because people are mean.
–Classic. Blizzard said players didn’t actually want it. Surprise, they did and it was/is extremely popular.
–More cosmetic options for specs. Instead we get “hero” talents. Which are just passives that don’t really change much and maybe look slightly different appearance wise.

I’m sure the list goes on, but a lot of the time blizz just seems like they are being contrarian to the players for no reason. They want to do things “their way”, which would be fine if their way was actually good, but usually it isn’t.

They do listen to player feedback.

Unfortunately, that’s a very broad spectrum and some of the feedback that they listen to is absolutely terrible.

Or… They take something and try and put their original spin on it and it doesn’t work out, lol.

Cuz most suggestions on here are actually terrible

Just because they find the odd diamond, doesn’t mean they should take all the poo with it

Not doing everything players ask for =\ not listening to player feedback.

eh, take it or leave it

a lot of the races people want would be very hard to figure out how to do gear for, hell look at dracthyr, i can almost guarantee a lot of people don’t play drac because of the bad transmog

monks aren’t super unplayed, more than rogues, and evokers are probably unplayed because the short range caster, and the fact that you can’t play dev because aug exists

the timer DOES serve a purpose, its a dungeon enrage timer like we have on raid bosses

turns out though, people wanted classic with changes

Because if they did they’d listen to braindead opinions like “the mythic+ timer is toxic and serves no purpose”.

Ew, no, go away.

because corporate feedback is the only feedback they’re referring whenever they say they’re responding to feedback.

even streamers have to get their comments run through corporate before they’re viable.

They do take some into account. That’s how follower dungeons and 1-5 player content came to be.

ah yes, corporate cares about the nitty gritty of the game and not just… “does this make money”

trust me, they don’t care how they make the game as long as it makes money

This post is exactly why they seldom listen to player feedback.

They take player feedback into account all the time. A lot of times it seems to be very bad ideas or from the vocal minority. Mythic + is one of them, they made it harder because some people were crying it was too easy. They even removed the stepping stone and made stepping stone much harder to make entrance to content harder.

A lot of suggestions people make they think everyone wants because they want it. Classes they ask for are the same as other games, go play those games then.

I could care less about player housing,
playable races are a mess that people want. some would work some wouldn’t.

The problem with classic was so many people screaming no changes at first. then they were screaming there is nothing new to do.

eh, they did that cause it was bloated as hell

barely anyone ran 2-10

No, they shouldn’t listen to general player feedback. But they should listen to MY feedback.

…and now you know.

Classic came about because Blizzard saw dollars in it, on top of slowing down the creation of private servers that they kept having to bring down.

They look at data primarily, player feedback only get’s looked at when it’s reached fever pitch.

they brought down one only

That’s a big problem. They are just looking at data streams instead of what makes the game fun to play. There would be more people playing wow if they looked at common threads in player feedback instead of their data spreadsheets.

That you know of.

I just scanned looking for player housing in the thread!

Found it!

Don’t need to read anymore after that.

unless it was some small one that no one played, all the big ones are still going or were ended by other means (usually a couple of the same people)
