Why doesn't Anima auto-deposit?

I find it pointless that the anima we collect in world doesn’t auto-deposit into our currency. What’s the point of having all these various anima items cluttering and taking up our bag space to be forced to fly all the way back to our covenant to deposit it?

WoD (Apexis), Legion (Artifact or Argunite), and BFA (Azerite) didn’t force us to deposit their expansion’s specific currency in a specific location, so why this annoying change?

So the three possible easy fixes for this would be:

  1. Anima auto deposits into your balance.
  2. Give us a Special Anima bag/container which they are looted to.
  3. Anima should stack by size, regardless of the source or name of the Anima, it should stack in your bags, rather than take up multiple bag slots for the same resource size, so I shouldn’t have 8 bag slots taken up by 8 different +35 anima items on top of the bag slots taken up by the +100 and +250 anima items, etc.
    .

In my personal opinion, option 3 seems like the best compromise, So either:

  • Anima needs to stack by size of the Anima item, i.e. all +35 anima stacks with other +35 anima tokens regardless of source.
  • Or each zone should give Zone/Covenant specific themed Anima that stacks regardless of size, i.e. +35 Bastion anima drops should stack and combine with other sized Bastion anima drops within my bags and simply combine currency amount, the same goes for Maldaxxus, Revendreth, and Ardenweald sourced Anima.

P.S. as for those who say that the Legion Artifact Power did go into your bags, the major difference is that you did not have to travel out of your way to your Order Hall to deposit the Artifact Power, you were able to right click and deposit the AP into your balance right as soon as you looted it (that’s if you didn’t have an addon to automate this for you).

p.p.s. for those who pointed out the Anima Cap, same thing as with Legion’s Artifact Power or the other various currency caps we have in-game, obviously if you can’t deposit anymore, then you can hold the items in your bags, but until then, it should auto deposit or offer players an option to deposit it to their covenant from anywhere, i.e. a special courier or ability such as your soul link to your covenant, that or it motivates players to spend it before hitting the cap (i.e. as like with honor/conquest points or a few other pve currencies).

So we can have more random junk in our bags, of course!

My bags were feeling a bit empty after clearing out all the Mechagon junk that should have been currencies.

It’s called busywork.

Anima piles up in your bags. You have to return to your covenant to deposit. Just one more tiny little thing that serves no purpose other than to eat time.

It takes more time to go to your covenant and deposit it than it does to have it just appear there. Blizzard is not even trying to hide the fact that they want stuff to take more time this expac. All they want is more timed played.

Because you’re not empowering something you have on your person, you’re pouring energy into the world itself.

The only reason I can think of is for someone that plans on switching covenant’s. They would be able to save up and dump it all in their new covenant after they make the change rather than it going to waste.

Having to go back and deposit it makes sense if you think about the story and what anima is, and why we are gathering/depositing it. Having it as clutter isnt necessary though.

It could go in a single jar in our bag and empty it out when we deposit or something.
It could just go into currency and the currency changes when we deposit.

Technically, this is false. Legion Artifact power did take up bag space, and did need to be clicked to deposit it. This was particularly bad if you spam queued arena.

Part of it I think is just lore and RPGness. We’re not carrying a Heart or some special instrument with us that absorbs it. So it’s donated manually at the covenant.

And it can be useful to let you save up anima before depositing it for say the renown quest in advance or swapping to another one later. There are a lot of items though. Could have been easier to just do universal “small, medium and large” anima items, but is what it is.

Sadly this was changed in week 2. The only anima which count to that quest now is anima which was acquired after picking up said quest, I think. That’s what I noticed.

As I said in another thread, SL can be summed up as; “Waiter! There’s too much vanilla in my order!”

How was I empowering something on my person when Dadghar wanted nearly 5,000 shards for that ring quest? Or the 120,000 shards I used to buy a mount?

Because the storage container for it is back at your Covenant HQ… Asking this is like asking why don’t the groceries you get at the super market magically move themselves to the kitchen at home.

But wait everyone!!! Theyve claimed as have many white knights so passionately defended that there is no such thing as a “time played metric” in WoW. To claim otherwise leads me to believe you don’t just take everything that blizzavision says as the holiest word of gospel that ever was!!

How incredibly silly of you all to notice them artificially not to mention unnecessarily increasing literally every single aspect of game play, ranging from world questing to pet battles. If you hadn’t heard yet, hear it from me!!! Theyve said that this is all wild coincidence, if not outright witchhunting!

Thank goodness I was here to set you all straight before this topic blew up out of hand!

You’re so very welcome!
I too wholeheartedly belive that light doth shine from every orifice blizzavision has. And that they would NEVER EVER mislead or lie to us about anything ever.

And with that I think I’ve used the remaining sarcasm im alloted in this lifetime.

Aw really? Here I thought I was being smart. xD I have a half a bag loaded with anima. I’ll wait till Tuesday anyways just in case, but good to know!

Same reason we have to pick up the emissary quest instead of it just appearing like the last 2 xpacks. To annoy us.

The same reason why flying is disabled.

To keep those participation metrics up!

Players: “But why do I need to waste time flying back to deposit this?”

Blizzard: Looks up from time played Engagement Metric spreadsheet. Flips the bird. Resumes staring at Engagement Metrics.

why are people talking about apexis? it was a completely different system than the artifact/azerite/anima power.
