Why does WW need a rework?

Im kind of new to WW but am having a blast with it, it’s like feral bloody talons but easier to maintain.

So why are people calling for a rework?

At 441 i can end most dungeons between 90-115k in +17s but it depends on the dungeon.
The ST and AoE are simple rotations, albeit a bit button bloated, still simple though.

4 ways to interrupt if an enemy can be stunned, CC with RoP, light self heals with Expel Harm, plenty of Defensives, group buffs in the form of extra healing and AoE damage reduction, and a +5% physical damage buff.

I guess I’m missing something though since people seem to hate in WW and are demanding a rework.

Personally, I don’t know either. I’m having a blast.

That said, a lot of monk players are long time players in a relatively small community. While it’s clear that some players will NEVER be happy, i do assume that many of them are speaking from a perspective based on the history of the class.

It’s easy for a new player to the class to see nothing wrong because it’s all they’ve known, but when you’ve had a taste of a different time where things seemed better, and it’s no longer around, it can be hard to be happy.

One of the main reasons is the spec interraction with mastery + how terrible ww mastery scales.

Other than that there were some design choices that upsets people. Such as how important touch of death is atm (like how easy it is to press and how bad it interracts with mastery or the rest of the toolkit.

Lots of people hate fealine stomp and how it makes the most mobile melee into the least mobile one.

That’s basically what I got over time (I mostly play mistweaver so)

Also a lot of the damage comes from Touch of Death which is just mostly overkill damage. So if you’re hitting a 200k ToD on a mob with 50k health left, it’ll register for 200k still. So a lot of the damage is not really accurate.

It’s very fun to play but it needs a lot of work to make it more cohesive. I used to main monk but dropped it at the start of DF.

WW doesnt need a rework. All three monk specs at their core are the most fun classes. What monks need is some love and polish from blizzard.

WW is one of the monk well designed classes but the most poorly executed.

it doesn’t. may need aura buffs as expansions progress, but that’s it. the class plays beautifully.

get rid of BDB and the touch of death aoe sniping talents as they are too strong in the beginning of an expac

I think this is a rather classic issue of some people at the higher end saying something, and other mimicing without context.

As an example, currently Faeline Stomp is 2 talent points for about 12-14% damage. This makes it almost by far the most valuable talent points in the tree besides active abilities.

Keefer’s is also a very significant damage increase.

The way this nets out is that there are basically no other talents to compete with Stomp and Keefers. Both talents also warp gameplay. Stomp requires ~1/10th of your globals to now be stomp, limiting the design space. An example being the new tier, which would be much much stronger providing CDR to spenders if 1/10th of globals were not occupied by stomp.

Additonally, so much of damage in PvE is condensed into Keefer’s windows that to be a meaningful damage amp, most trinkets or tier bonuses have to be during the keefers window.

Bonuses such as Keefers can also cause significant stat DR’s, which while not a huge impact on “scaling”, does create a drag.

Because classes tend to be balanced around a target DPS, without reworks it means that things like stomp or keefers heavily warp windwalkers damage profile. Balancing Windwalker to be ~average means that spenders scale quite poorly with stats such as mastery, because they have such a high share of damage coming from Keefers/Stomp

Really when players at the higher end (a very very select few) ask for a rework, what they generally mean is a talent rebalancing with match actually considered by blizzard devs, as many talents are simply never worth taking under any circumstance, which limits design choices.

At 441 ilvl you can easily do 30% more work other spec easily

WW monk is fun to play but it doesn’t sacle well with secondary stats
