Why does transmogging cost gold

Was just thinking that today, the fact I have to pay to change my appearance of my character with items that I’ve earned.

Drains gold from players. Similar thing with repair costs.

gold sink. though i wish they would fix the numerous bugs with it because a bugged transmog is a waste of gold

True, gotta give people a reason to buy those tokens again

Because you’re paying an NPC to do the magic.

Well, thinking realistically here, I mean I don’t ever pay someone to change my clothes IRL, so why in game?

They should just have transmog tied to slots intead of gear tbh. So annoying having to retransmog everytime I put a new piece on.

so equiping a new piece of gear will cost gold instead

They shouldn’t charge for transmog at all tbh. It’s a lame gold sink. They should just have expensive vanity mounts as gold sinks. Still don’t understand why they didn’t put a non-AH version of the brutosaur onto the vendor so people can at least dump money on the model.

It has nothing to do with tokens and everything to do with not wanting the economy insanely out of whack.

Mini gold sinks are needed. See: SWTOR when they don’t fix an exploit and then remove the mini gold sinks, while also leaving the rewards the same. Stims that used to cost 10,000 credits are now 5 mil credits.

It’s a problem they created with mission tables for four expansions straight letting people produce money for zero effort. And like I said, there were better ways to deflate. Brutosaur alone deflated more than transmog ever did. If they were just going to sell it for money later, they should’ve just kept the brutosaur.

to bad it’s not bartering and/or gold

I could pick flowers to trade for my tmog habit.

Mini is an understatement. It’s like 1000g to change my mog at lvl 80.

I don’t tmog unless it is free. And then rarely that.

They call it a “gold sink” but ultimately it is a RolePlayer punishment. Some of us change outfits 2-3 times per day for RolePlay. Never thought it would cost me 1600g per day just to do things in game I enjoy. Would be different if I were repairing raid damage. I’m just swapping into something for the guild meet up and then back into my adventure gear. TMogs should be free, particularly on RP Server.

If mogging is too expensive, you can use lower quality gear with a lower vendor value.

Transmog cost existed prior to that. And still would exist regardless.

A one time purchase doesn’t work the same as a constant sink. It needs maintained, not to go up and down like a bad roller-coaster.

This is an entirely different topic and the original Bruto still exists on the BMAH.
