Why does the void age you...?

I’m just looking at the faces for the void elf males and I’m just realizing… That the void seems to age up the faces? They have more wrinkles/lines than their non-void options? Why is that?

I saw this too and my second oldest brother, was has a big knowledge to animation and drawing in general, thinks that this should represent the “monster”-part of the race, or what Blizzard believes to be it.

It’s a male elf thing. Apparently they have to be wrinkled and angry. Look at male Nelfs and Nightborne.

I had to go see if this was a thing for female void elves too, and for the first time realized that female Thalassian elves have no wrinkly faces. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to feel about that. :dracthyr_shrug:

They’re porcelain dolls. lol

Makes sense, I love dolls. I have a few out as decoration in my room, :dracthyr_heart:

I try not to pay attention to the male faces all too much. They basically only have 1-2 viable faces for those 2 races… Which honestly pisses me off a little bit. Why do only the females get to look good?

Not everybody likes to play an old hag. That’s why you don’t see many female dwarf/goblin players at all, because everyone’s standard is a beautiful being, with their personality being based on great curves and a skin thight outfit.

While that’s true, they normally at least give you the option to, but there isn’t a single one for female Thalassian elf. It’s a bit odd to think about given that males can have more mature and aged faces with wrinkles, so it’s not just a Thalassian elf thing.

It’s a male character thing in general. Humans had two decent faces before BfA. Now you can be young and handsome – so long as you want to be any other race but white.

Because people wouldn’t play it. They can’t even play the “old looking” races now, which is why almost everyone is a Draenei, Human, High/Blood Elf in the player base.

But I do get it, why people want to play this in the game. It’s hardly manageable in RL. I look “stunning” in RL for an Asian girl but this comes also with a price. I know how much you need to check your diet and that our community will bodyshame you for having a bit of weight. That’s why I gravitate towards irregular characters in the game, because I don’t think that the regular person knows how much pressure it is to look permanently thin. While this is a dream for many, it comes with its own bags.

I am right there with ya. Blizz was all like, “Oh we fixed the scowls a bit for you!” And I’m all like, “WHY AM I SCOWLING IN EVERY FACE TO BEGIN WITH?!”

I feel like it would be… in poor taste (I can’t think of words right now) not to acknowledge beyond a like. I’m glad the game can give you reprieve from the stress of diet/skinny culture and trying to avoid being body shamed. I’ve always found myself drawn to the more “attractive” races, I’ll admit, and always wondered why some people liked the “unattractive” races (I know that’s very subjective, and some people like races that they think are cool even if they wouldn’t be considered “attractive”), and this gives me new perspective. :people_hugging:

Most of the player races are idealized versions who are frozen in time, literally. The most realistic one are the Kul Tirans in my opinion but I’m not a man and don’t know how their body works.

Personally I like the male dwarfs the most from all the male races, in a very weird way. They are somewhere a mix of alpha human male behavior in their animations, having a weighty beard (and if you know people with long beards, they are usually fluffy unless it goes down to the belly) and talk like they know are in charge of everything, but in a charming way.

Adorable, some might say.

Good point, wonder why they’re so old

Male night elf faces got older looking with more wrinkles at higher resolution when the current night elf models were introduced in WoD. My guess is that the same thing happened with male void elves - they got higher resolution faces than blood elves with more detail that made them look older. I do wish we had some younger looking faces for night elf and blueberry void elf males.

That’s news to me, then again my only void elf is a woman so I don’t see the male face that often so I’d of never known that. I always felt the void would of been like “Stain your soul dark with the void and we’ll make you eternally young” kind of thing as Alleria doesn’t seem to look older and she was the first void elf

Stress can cause aging and I imagine it’s very stressful to always have those void whispers in your mind
