Why does solo shuffle have rating segregation?

Why does solo shuffle separate people by rating? It seems to me if you’re playing solo shuffle it’s because you just want to get into the game and play arena. They could still give out awards based on an individuals wins vs losses. I think separating people out into rating tiers just increases the que time and takes away from the fun of solo shuffle.

Matchmaking is in place so game quality is higher due to more even matchups.

There’s skirmishes if you’d prefer to avoid it.

Having rated and non rated SS would be alright.

I don’t know why they didn’t carry over unrated shuffle, either.

I thought that unranked shuffle was meant to be a rotating brawl.

I think you’re severely underestimating the degree of difference in ability players have.

Maybe this is just a weak bait by a lvl 58 classic toon, but regardless, the experience would be pretty awful for most players.

oh good another classic poster thread

I get that player skill would be different, but it shuffles through players. its not as if one team would be able to destroy lesser teams.

Doesn’t the shuffle function serve the same purpose to ensure more even matchups over the 6 rounds?

Shuffle format is to fix the “coinflip” feeling of getting a “bad comp”, which is why shuffle has 6 rounds instead of a single one like skirms. Obviously over the course of a lot of games it balances out but a lot fewer people would probably reach that point if shuff was more skirm-like.

So one player going 6-0 is fun for everyone? Because that’s what would happen in many matches.

Removing the brawl was either dumb or cynical, and bad either way

Skirms offer 0 guarantee that you’ll get geared teammates who even care about trying to win, and decent odds you won’t get teammates at all. This game abjectly fails to offer a casual pvp experience that guarantees nobody is punching the game clock rather than playing for fun

I imagine that was a UI thing or maybe concern of splitting people up too much.

Unranked Shuffle, I think, should make a return, though, on the Quick Match/unranked menu.

Maybe, sure. Could be an attempt to sucker more people into caring about their rating than otherwise would’ve, could be trying to make escaping the low game quality of rat leagues more important than it was in the unrated mode, or yeah it could just be refusal to spend the money implementing both systems. Crummy decision they should be ashamed to have made no matter what the actual reason is

I don’t disagree.

Wonder if they’ll ever end up implementing the remaining maps, and why they haven’t already.

Maybe. It could be harder to reach the top, although like you said I think over enough games you’d be able to overcome any bad luck and with faster que times you should be able to reach it sooner.

The biggest concern I have with this is one healer is vastly superior to another than yes you could have that healer go 0-6. Although you should be able to get into a new match the next game much quicker with a bigger pool of players to draw from.

I get that and don’t disagree that it would be quicker, but the quality of play for everyone would be off. It’s really not fair to newer players if they are facing veterans and other elite players in the game. Likewise, nothing against them, but I don’t want to waste my time playing against sub 1600 players either. I want to improve myself and the only way I can do that is facing the hardest players possible. Right now, RSS actually places you with lower MMR players all the time. 2/3 of all my matches I was above the group average for MMR.

I want to face the best possible players every chance I get. Now if this was another bracket, great.

pog i got 10 1400 teams in a row while i was 3100
now i’m 3400
