Why does shroud exist?

I’m curious why does shroud of concelemen needs to exist as a rogue ability other than to just give them a permanent spot in m+ thus limiting what classesand specs are viable for pushing keys.

Why is shroud a thing. Rogues already have the most min control of any Dps and their dmg in m+ is upper tier for melee dps

They need to make it PvP only.

Idk, you should name change again to find out.

???

everyone can carry invis pots that last about as long its quite fine.

the one problem is that i cant trade them to slackers that didnt bring them if they aren’t from my “realm”

Why? each class has their own niches.

A buff, free food, portals, etc.

FWIW, I fully support giving Shroud (“Pass without Trace”) to Ferals, so long as Balance and Resto don’t have access to it (their kit is big enough).

The dungeons in SL have been redesigned with Shroud in mind and there are far fewer valuable skips than there were in BFA, so having a rogue for Shroud is not nearly as useful as it used to be. The OP-ness of Outlaw for amazing aoe and single target damage on the otherhand, that’s why you take the rogue. Outlaw ST needs some real toning down.

Idk… Shroud doesn’t feel nearly as mandatory as it did in 8.0 thru 8.2.

Or mages with mass invis. Jaina did it in maw, no problems.

Why? Because it’s clearly one of the single best abilities for M+ and there are no similar abilities. It’s too good. Simple as that.

???

Not being able to use DPS or mana pots is pretty huge.

And? whats the problem?

I doesnt need to be nerfed into PvP only, ever.

Each class/spec has their own niche.

The pots aren’t that big of a deal. You miss out on 1 dps pot, instead of 5+ pots like in BFA. Also there are other ways to skip without a Rogue such as Mind Soothe from Priests.

Uh, probably not a great idea for a pure DPS class with heroism to be the bearer of Shroud.

I thought you were referring to that streamer.

I would have to say in that regards… alcohol was involved.

100% agree. there’s barely any spots in SL dungeons where shroud is required…

Either you have to kill the trash anyways to make % as some dungeons are stingy with trash, or an alternate path exists around the trash you would of shrouded for anyways (i.e. the trash packs along the stairs or blocking the top of the stairs before the 3rd boss in SOA which you can simply jump the railing on the side to avoid pulling).

Only time shroud can be useful is just simply, your group wants to clear mob % early and skip later trash packs… but really not much of a time save versus just killing less early and killing the later trash packs for the remainder

Overall, it’s just mostly an illusion or placebo effect that shrouding is essential/faster in SL dungeons.

what’s the problem? when one spec dominates a melee spot, it doesn’t leave healthy options for NON rogues specs. This isn’t complicated. Why should one class have a spot in M+ all the time? There should be SOME reason to bring other melee specs… but there really isn’t.

Why is that not hard to accept? It’s not a niche, it’s a mandatory ability in higher keys.

Sure, but it just makes a lot of content that much easier.

I mean, if it’s not a big deal, then just remove it from PvE. Not sure why anyone would sweat it.

Imagine malding over one ability.

The benefit of Shroud is that you get to save your pot. I’d argue that having a Mage/Hunter/Shaman in the group is far more impactful in order to get the full haste % from Lust. Nothing wrong with certain classes having a useful ability for the group.

Sure, but when that class has been the mainstay for now 3 expansions, I think it’s safe to say maybe we should take a look at it. I think rogues would have a spot regardless, even without shroud. They offer a ton of utility to any group.

Shroud just pushes them over the top.

If you look at the M+ leaderboards, Hunter and Windwalker are way more common than Rogue. It’s definitely not mandatory to have one, even at the +20 key level.
