Necro is intregal to Ele mostly because flame shock dispel is so devastating and an ability that gives an additional flame shock option with a chance to reset trumps anything else pm.
I don’t think this is the case for Ret, divine toll doesn’t shore up a hole the spec has in PvP. Night Fae was supposed to be king for Ret I thought due to the mobility?

See I really don’t think Blizzard is designing Ret with mobility/burst in mind.
Wings is really just fantasy. Increasing damage/healing/crit by 20% and having what 3-4 options to proc it isn’t about “low mobility” its just a Blizz dev designing the spec from what their kid wanted IMO
I don’t think the spec has ever really had a direction til now they realized they want to lean in more on the “vengeance and retribution” aspect of it by letting the Ret punish enemies that aggress their allies.
Its cool to be wary of CCIng a Ret’s team too much because you give the ret crit/dam for it but having him blind and insta gib your team with holy damage is a joke

Blinding light should break to damage period. Really bad design to do that I agree (also you kiss boys if you do that)
Yeah we all thought night fae was gonna be the way, but then the covenant ability is so trash. You have 3min cycling blessings that does some minimal dmg, 30% cooldown reduction for 30sec or 10% increased healing. Or you have an ability that sync up with your burst and also a low 1min cooldown that can do anything between 6k to 30k on main target.

Yeah they are. They said at the beginning of legion alpha that they stripped ret ranged damage because they didnt agree with the way they were designing ret into a hybrid ranged spec and wanted to bring it back to its melee roots. And wanted to move on into a more juggernaught design. In essence its exactly what they said about ret redesign in legion.
I prefered when that pvp talent was a 1min active ability. Not gonna lie the new aura is way too strong.
Also wings giving 20% crit is too much aswell.
Yeah blinding light is an old mechanic from when ret heal seal of truth, the seal that applied a holy damage dot, that’s why they made that ‘‘holy damage doesn’t break’’ thing. It shouldn’t be in the game anymore.
I’m literally going to make a list of what each class should be doing in response to offensive cd combinations and we can all just copy paste from that list when we get a bone broth brain op that made a thread after getting smoked

I didn’t read the other comments. So if it’s been said before, read it again. Track seraphim/trinket/wing goes. Don’t dweeb it up and use this combo on a proc wings.
Stun ret with Fel eruption. Start moving away from the ret. No this isn’t the time to do dps because 99% of rets are going to trinket your gel eruption. After they trinket instantly paralyze him. You should be running the immune talent so nobody breaks. Continue to move away from the ret. At this point 71% of rets will bubble to vomit down your throat. Stand in improve darkness OR netherwalk. Use your other stun after it ends. Congratulations seraphim and trinket are over and wings doesn’t have much longer.
In 3s if you run improve darkness and nether walk and ONLY trinket HOJ you quite literally can’t die to a ret team. Rotate nether and improve darkness every big go. You’re welcome.

Yea I aint even mad about it that specifically, it’s just a piece of the puzzle.
There’s just a bizzare amount of % modifiers that ALL paladin specs have access to.
Something is going to break with paladins every patch almost ALL their talents and abilities are % amps
Right but that doesn’t have to translate into lets make wings SSJ3 and that’s Ret.
I think it all boils down to the “Holy Warrior but not an Arms Warrior” angle they’re going for.
Idk maybe I’m basically agreeing with you at this point calling it a Juggernaut spec, I just think it doesn’t have to be and it’d be really easy for them to not make it such.

I 100% agree with you. I’d rather do outplay with ccs or utility spells than hitting for 20k.
Like I said, greatly reduce burst, change the different damage amplifier Ret has to other things (Judgement’s debuff could be Long Arm of the Law effects instead, final reckoning could be changed into a leap instead of giving 30% spender damage increase. The crit on wings could be haste or just not be there).
There’s so much stuff you can change into utility instead of raw damage increase.
Also change the damage curve to how it was in Legion. All the damage is into TV. Remove a lot of damage from TV and put it back into Crusader Strike/Blade of Justice/Judgement. So instead of 1k Crusader Strike and 6k TV, They do 3k CS and 4k TV.
Slap a 50% damage reduction to wings, nerf Healing Hands, give back divine protection (20% dmg wall). Bring back instant rep back on 1min cd.
Reset Ringing Clarity into doing another effect instead.
