Why does Raid Loot feel so mediocre

I really don’t see the correlation between COS and the post not being relevant. It’s a two boss raid tier with some unique rewards that are hit or miss depending on your class. And two items from that raid being good for you is not a sweeping change that changes the dynamic of how the expansion has felt.

I don’t expect Azshara raid loot to be any different from what we’re used to seeing because of the above, but maybe I’m wrong. Good trinkets are important just so that it doesn’t feel like we have to spam dungeons for them, but the loot concept will never change. Unless you luck out with properly itemized loot across the board dungeons will play an interesting role for you.

well you only have two trinket slots and now one of them will come from the two boss raid

and these trinkets come after many complaints of boring trinkets; we go from that to a 30 sec mastery duration.

they are absolutely an answer to these complaints, and they do a good job of answering them. the number of bosses don’t matter; both encounters have loot tables filled with useful procs.

idk about other classes but the two strength dps items are more than hit or miss.

Yeah, it seems more and more that all the trinkets are pretty interesting for a lot of specs, and that’s good. We’ll see if that’s the norm or not. Traditionally trinkets from raids just keep getting more and more obscene as the expansion progresses so I’m not super worried about them.

I was referring on an entire class basis, not Fury specifically. I know the trinket is good, I hear the legs are at least decent (haven’t investigated exactly how good they are and I’m rolling on him for trinket anyways). Gloves are okish. They are definitely hit or miss based on much raid damage goes up. From a damage perspective if you aren’t getting 50% it’s a loss, but the shield is pretty nice to have if it stays up close to that.

tbh i wouldn’t even consider the gloves an option. that’s a definite miss as an item unless you’re doing m+ during a week like this.

the pants and trinket however, are very good, with the trinkets being the reason to even show up to the raid. uuanat lockouts are priceless right now imo

i will agree the tank items are a big meh but tanks got the prism this tier and that’s 20-30% of my healing from a single item. But people i know seem pretty excited about the rest of the loot table so i’d feel pretty confident saying there’s something in there for most people.

im using a rezans and vial as fury so trust me, im squarely in the “trinkets suck this expac” camp because ive been wallowing in there with those two. having said that, have to acknowledge that those complaints were heard and our half tier getting some cool stuff was the answer. it’s not a lot but im satisfied with the items i will get to play with.

It still is unless you arent doing mythic. Certainly now with these new items. Got 405 gloves and they are doing more healing than impassive visage. Can only imagine what a titanforged version would do.

Raid loot is currently so mediocre that I’m using a trinket from lfr CoS that’s 30ilvl lower than the one I replaced it with… That until it gets nerfed will only replaced by a higher ilvl void stone.

Although ya, it is stupid how pvp gear isn’t good for pve or pvp (except high ilvl on-use trinkets), pve gear is bis for pvp by a long shot and gear from m+ is best for raiding

The reason Raid Loot feels mediocre is everything is a matter of tradeoffs.

In the past, the only real way to get top end PvE loot was to raid. Now, there are other ways to get very good loot, but that means that raid loot is no longer always the best.

We can have multiple options for getting high end gear or we can have every raid boss drop valuable loot, but we can’t have both.

Yes, it is why I’m shooting for 400 ilevel with no raid OR dungeon loot (398 now, all outdoor junk.)
