1 cast of penance is about 190 dmg for me
1 cast of swd is about 140
it doesn’t even damage u lmao, what is going on with spriest, i get not having above average dps because we don’t have our full kit yet but using penance, which can be used defensively and having it deal more damage over an iconic shadow priest spell is just ludicrous, if the issue is spell coefficients in later phases just buff it now and revert it later.
The only real use for it is catching people offguard with the spike damage in PVP but not having the near instant full heal that can also do more damage than SWD is such a detriment you’re a clown for not running it.

One is instant and one is channeled
Instant can be used while moving which offers a big advantage

Penance does more damage than my Mage’s 3 second Fireball cast, it does more damage than my Hunter’s Aimed Shot using the epic bow. Penance is just massively overtuned, but no one cares because it’s okay when healers are OP for some reason.

yup and shadow priests will get nerfed because of it i guarantee it. penance has needed a nerf since day 1 and this is coming from someone that is playing 2 separate priests in SOD both at 25 already lmao

To be fair, strong healers don’t feel as oppressive as seeing 3 Scorpids running at you.
Priests may be OP (they are) but they don’t stop you from playing the game for the most part.
They just make everything you do irrelevant. At least when I’m on my mage I can just sheep them forever.

yeah bro that’s why if you check those same logs you claim you read you’ll notice penance did more damage than shadow word death in the same exact fights. lmao.

And? SW:D is instant cast, penance is not. On those priests that used penance, you’ll also notice that mindflay and mindblast did significantly less than priests who did not use penance. If penance was required to be competitive, priests using SW:D would not be in the top 10 dps on boss encounters.
Penance’s use for shadow priests will be nullified at 40. Some priest’s shaking up the playstyle by incorporating it in their rotation doesn’t negate SW:D’s use as an ability for shadow, even at 25.
tl;dr quit crying, i highly doubt you’re even playing at a top 1000 level so use the rune you prefer.

again, pennance is doing more damage in these logs than people with the rune shadow word death, i do not understand how many more times this need to be explained to you but it refutes your entire argument no matter how many times you restate it. despite swd being instant, penance is still doing more damage. i’m beginning to think you don’t understand how to actually sort through logs, saw a single swd in top ten and were like “nah its good bro!” you can check yourself, penance is dealing higher damage to the boss than SWD does. defeating the entire purpose of the rune.
People dont care because when level cap is lifted and shadowform is a thing penance will be outscaled by shadow damage increases and possibly not even usuable in shadowform making it purely a heal rune from that point.
Its only OP now because shadow has almost no plus shadow gear or talents to improve their shadow spells and holy resistance is low to non-existent.
this makes no sense because for the scenarios to be equivalent you’d have 3 priests casting penance at you…

We’re already hurting for healers, every group in LFG is “LF Healer” and you want to nerf priests, the least played class ? 
Already responded to this in the original post please read it again, just adjust later so the rune is actually useful now, like we all assume will happen with hunter pets.
every single healer i know is right in the middle of or has just completed leveling their priest because the choice of healer class is a no brainer. don’t see a lot of “lf1m bfd resto sham only!!” in lfg. I get whispers in the middle of stone stonetalon asking if im saved to bfd on my priests.
They did buff underperforming specs.
Hunters were just that out of control.
