Why does no one want to tank?

My IO, now, past, or future has zero to do with the fact that you think DPS is hard.

I could have 1400, or 3000, that wont change that DPS is not hard lol.

If you had any DPS experience in high keys you wouldn’t say that.

You’re just clueless

I have had plenty of experience as a DPS, and as a tank in High level keys, 20+ before DF change, its much easier as a DPS, because you have zero responsibility other then not standing in things and running out the bad.

Absolute clowns status if you really think DPS is hard, christ that was a good giggle, i thank you for that, for reminding me how much clowning these forums have hah.

Good luck with your ‘difficult’ DPS. lol LMAO.

Yup that confirms it, you’re clueless.

Good talk lil bro

Not because of the community, content and design went too hard for the most demanding roles.

i heal plenty and am leveling a tank to 80 too. i generally heal and tank every season. i just don’t do it much for pugs, because it’s not much fun with randoms.

I’m sure someone has already said this but, personally, and I think probably for a lot of players… it’s boring. Really, that’s the most simple explanation.

Tanking is mostly about positioning, group awareness, grouping up mobs, and knowing when to use your defensives for boss abilities etc. It’s a game of multiple, and often vitally important, minigames.

Whereas with DPS you have a much simpler, and way more fun, minigame - how much damage can you do?

this is why everybody makes fun of dps-only players, and why good ones get added to tank/healer friend lists: the ones who understand how valuable the ‘intangibles’ are are worth their weight in gold.

nobody cares if you’re on top of the meters if you have 3 kicks the entire dungeon, don’t use defensives, don’t purge or use defensive dispels on your teammates, etc.

agreed. How difficult is it to just stand there trying to melt faces; whereas, everyone else is kicking, etc. Then, those people brag about how much damage they did but always fail to mention all the stuff they didn’t do. I’ve seen it a thousand times.

  • If you make a mistake in your rotation/planning – you can easily die.
    • If you die, everyone is probably going to die.
  • Nobody freakin’ interrupts in this game, so it feels like having to do everything.
  • Higher level of game knowledge expected, without really good places to practice.
  • People have surprisingly little patience for new / learning tanks.
  • People who pull mobs ahead of the tank.
    • This is one of those like… I know it shouldn’t make me angry… but it’s like going to a cookout and having to put up with some screeching child while the parents just sit there and do nothing. Like… this is the result of parents not teaching their children manners.
  • Timers in M+ forcing tanks to make pulls they aren’t really comfortable with.

I’ll tank LFD and Delves for friends, but that’s about it. I don’t need anxiety in a video game.

This is painfully accurate…
I got really good at rotating cds and survivng back in my hay day of main tank progression raiding. Survived things that you definitely shouldn’t (but also saw a lot you shouldn’t because of failed dps checks).

Safe to assume a lot unfortunately. I don’t heal period anymore because of bad dps and tanks.

Heck me trying to do some 5s for my vault is painful. Dps doing 500k overall, me at a mil. Then they qq about not timing it. Like its a +5 not a +2.

Ill still tank every now and then but man… the amount of times I’ve had to solo tank stuff like razageth, fyrakk, fandral.
Or fights just last a million years.

It gets old fast.

Feel like the new content is harder to learn, and trying to learn as a tank just opens you up to everyone raging at you for trying to learn the mechanics. Like placement, abilities from enemies, etc. I personally loved tanking but with new raids mainly, I’d rather avoid making the toxic people in LFR’s rage out and vote kick me out for trying to learn mechanics through LFR.

Huh? I’ve done plenty of dungeons and raids with tanks… Warriors are kings right now, Druids not far behind, and though scary Death Knights and Demon Hunters get the job done (one’s health gives healers heart attacks and the other’s is played by toxic edge-lords). I refuse to run with Paladins however due to their paper-thin skin and don’t have the courage to give Monks a chance.

As with every thread like this; the common denominator is–> Buttmahnumbersscreaminjimmy/jane in pugs.
Don’t pug and every role becomes enjoyable because of the lack of Buttmahnumbersscreaminjimmy/jane.
Same in almost every Mmo.

People tank, happens all the time, but pugging… that’s dying off for tanks.

Absolutely NO tanks in the DEAD keys.

4-6 are dead. Any one who would farm for items and/or crests would farm a +3,
8’s are dead. People farming hero gear would lower their key to a 7 and 9 gives Gilded, 8 is un rewarding for its difficulty.

I used to love tanking, but I have found the idea of it increasingly less interesting over the years as the fantasy of being a hulking wall guarding your party has evolved into a panicking piece of paper struggling to ward off papercuts while begging for heals.

At this point, I find healing more enjoyable than tanking. No routes, no percentages, just healthbar whack-a-mole and dispells.

There is something satisfying about pulling a pack in m+, having good procs and popping off for 3mil DPS+. Then seeing the DPS struggle to stay ahead on the DPS meter.

Routing is the only reason I don’t care for tanking.

I don’t care if people whine and complain in a key, but I hate getting lost or coming up short on % because I failed the minigame before the key even began.
