Why Does Horde Get Destroyed in AV?

thats like asking why alliance always wanna turtle now

AV is unbalanced. But not in a traditional way.

It heavily favors whomever is trying to stall. The defence has an ENORMOUS advantage at the two main choke points of the map, which are IBGY and SHGY.

Which means the longer queues will always win the game, as they have an incentive to stay inside the match for as long as possible, while the offense can’t really take anything if the opposite team is defending a node with a similar amount of players.

Of course, that is excluding premades. Premades win regardless of the other team’s queue times and strategy.

we not zugging hard enough, lost like 20 games in a row couple days ago on jom… i took a break hoping to come back this weekend and at least play enough just to keep my rank up high enough and maybe rank up to rank 9 or at least stay rank 8. then i find out that battleground weekend is cancelled i said f it ill just lose a rank this week at this point tbh…

They steamrolled alliance in classic and watched the alliance qq about map imbalance because of the cave location when that was a non issue.

Oh and they lol’d the whole time. Then alliance cried about horde racials when 75% are useless in pvp and horde lol’d even harder.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of “they rolled Horde”.

Probably has to do with every game starting with only 13 or 15 horde and ALWAYS 40 alliance. Had one game where we had only 12 horde for 10 minutes straight before it even added anyone else.

wait, so horde are now no longer trying because all the sweats went ally? KEKW who would have saw THAT coming.

So did we learn anything from this? nope

Player driven problem that should have been axed when SoM went live by putting in faction queues on servers. IE vender strike ally, play horde or wait in queue, or try obisdian, but that would even be worse.

Same with Jom for Horde, play ally or wait in queue or play on shanker. Faction caps is the way to go.

Cause they suck

Yep. What’s interesting to see is history repeat itself, but with reverse factions (this was one month after Classic AV came out and horde had 30+ min queue times):

Personally, I am waiting for Ziriyus (sp) to come on here and tell me why the Horde still have all the advantages lol.

Jokes aside, the map still isn’t balanced if both sides decide they want to actually pvp and both sides have skilled and geared players going at it (favors Horde), but it is pretty awesome that the tables turned in SoM. It makes it so this discussion is actually useful and has recent history to inform it rather than “zomg 15 years ago rabble rabble rabble” which was less useful.

It’s hard to keep track of which AV we are talking about, but the AV we had for the first two years of Classic was absolutely the horde’s to win or lose. If Horde chose to play slow and defend choke points, it was almost impossible for Alliance to win. If they decided it was better honor per hour to just race and take what they get, Alliance will probably win.

Now if you are talking about TBC, the horde could still hard turtle and dominate if they wanted to but it’s harder. They moved the broken horde entrance further back so it’s a much more neutral point of the map when they first encounter eachother.

edit: And btw, as for SoM servers the second horde decides their best honor per hour option is to turtle choke points in AV and play slow, they will dominate AV once again.

Same reason Alliance got destroyed in Classic. Instant queues = fewer people trying.

Quite a few smaller horde groups that que will single-handedly win games for the horde. Neckrage and a few other back cap and can create some brutal games.

To be fair, those groups almost never take the queu with less than 20 getting into the same game.

And at least 5 times tonight alone we had 30+ getting into the same game for an absolute stomp.

TLDR the groups you’re fighting against aren’t that small.

Because a lot of horde rerolled alliance for SOM.

It is really bad. I’ve only won 1 game out of like 20-30 games. LUL.

Somehow swifty is always in them, afk eating on stream somewhere.

Just responding here to say:

I love this thread. All the alliance babies from the first go round of classic talking about how it was skewed to horde and unfair.

And I was on the island alone saying no…we just suck.

Well, there you. We just sucked.

Horde have historically always been bad at AV - it favors ally in all iterations, and, it’s more PVE than PVP thus also favoring alliance.

What happened in the first classic was a fluke.

I was in an AB with him a few weeks ago as horde. He sat there while I was sapped and the farm flag got capped. I went back and watched the stream. He was pulling up some Youtube video or something. Someone on his stream chat was like “You forgot searing totem!” when it was happening. Anyway, we won the game, it wasn’t the end of the world… but yeah.
