Why does healing spring totem heal for more than healing tide now?

I know that resto shaman needed help in the beginning of the season, but healing spring totem has two charges and a short cd, yet it’s healing for 25k and 45k crits. Healing tide heals for 40k. Yes, you can kill healing stream totems which take about 3 hits, but it just seems odd that it heals for 5-10% hp per tick. Was healing stream totem over buffed?

buffing healing stream totem is the answer the dev team came up with.

Rewind a month or so back. Shaman healing throughput was balanced around a bazillion modifiers for riptide (cast unleash, healing stream totem for swelling waves, etc, etc) to get a good casted heal. So when they reworked shaman they didnt want shamans to require 5 globals to setup a heal, so they killed the modifiers. Thats a nerf to healing throughput, so they had to compensate and increase healing throughput somewhere else. Instead of just buffing baseline riptide for all that % they took away, they improved healing stream totem on the understanding that has counterplay and cant handle burst.

So in short, casted heals are a huge weakness in this meta and they dont want to keep buffing riptide. Where else do they put healing for shaman? devs came up with healing stream, they will be trying healing rain on 10.1. Guess we will see if that works better

25k and 45k crits aren’t the constant.

The cool thing about living stream talent is it rewards early stomps on HST.

Another cool thing about that talent is with each tick the actual totem grows larger in size. Nice immersive touch by blizzard
