failure to balance the ground is blizzards fault.
OP change name to Gripes.
This is a foundational problem with the stat and interactions.
Crit is 1 massive hit. At the same when multistrike was a thing, crit was a big problem. Multistrike was added to give the damage of a crit but split out into smaller multiple hits to allow potential more counter play. Just like the argument between DOTS vs upfront damage, dots always lose unless they are mechanically tuned to be stronger because dots will always have the inherent weakness of needing to last and tick their entire duration where you always get the full value for upfront damage.
This gets even trickier when you have mechanics that interact with “hits”. Either you have safety built in where only the primary hit counts or internal cooldowns on when procs from hits can occur which then invalidate multi strike. It’s like the old windfury proccing windfury proccing windfury proccing windfury.
So again, either multi strike will just be a bad version of crit, or it’ll be a niche stat specs that rely on procs bank on and/or the stat gets boosted in combo with select trinkets or similar effects. Plain and simple. It’s easy to say “meh, Blizzard’s problem” and that is your right, but it helps to think critically and from their perspective to better shape your own perspective.
Goodbye. Like you said, classic is there, so why are you here?
Because there are good parts to each game?
Saying if you don’t like some specific thing to leave an abandon it, and everything else a person make like, is quite insane and doesn’t work in any real life situation (marriage, employment, neighborhood, house, car, teammates, etc.)
I didn’t like world buffs, it appears most people didn’t, but that doesn’t mean other parts of the game weren’t great and a reason to play.
Any fancy effect just boils down to being worth X DPS so it’s easier to just stick with primary and secondary. If gear is a no brainer then focus can remain on class tuning.
Gear used to have several additional stats like hit rating, crit rating, defense rating, and wisdom (for mana regen). However math is hard and they have all been removed. Some are automatically generated based on your primary stat. Others are just core (hit and defense) values that never change.
In Legion, Blizzard decided to hide many of the remaining stats as well. I guess because math is hard. There are addons that expose them.
Because fun isn’t allowed when everything is balanced around high end competitive aspects of the game. Between the two I’d rather jettison high end competitive and have fun whacky but somewhat broken gear.
Corruptions weren’t a good way to going about making gear interesting though, simpler stuff like [Ironfoe]'s chance to proc a duplicate of whatever ability triggered it and chances to launch shadowbolts and things like that is sufficient IMHO.
As someone who played specs that really really liked multistrike
I still miss it
So instead of having 35,000 HP and 500 intellect due to stamina/intellect armor…I will have 10,000 HP, and 100 intellect–but an ILVL of over 900!!!
No thank you.
We need stats to improve our toons and allow us to defeat enemies.
I can name several dozen items from classic, I can name maybe 2 (not counting trinkets) from any recent expansion.
a little imbalance is fun
Create sets that have abilities borrowed from D&D
- Celestial Armour : ability to fly 5mins. Has wings.
- Demon Armour : claw attack. Cannot be disarmed. Mobs less friendly.
- Speed : 50% haste with some CD
- Adhesive (gauntlets and boots) : can climb (anywhere you can fly)
- Arrow Collecting : arrows and bolts that miss orbit the wearer and discharge when the wearer wants
- Bastion : immune to mind control
I agree. Let’s make the shoulders have cannons that shoot Code Red Mountain Dew at your enemies
Tubular
I guess we could always go back and requiring hit and/or spell power.
Been this way since August 30, 2016.
Hit cap?
presses eject button
Only other alternative is FF14 and that game sucks.
The intended goal of playing the game is now to have top gear. To make this appeal more to people who would be more excited by other goals, they make most gear really boring. So surely if they are bored by gear they’ll play more in order to get bis.
I’m just not sure how you can make gear more interesting… They’re stat sticks nothing more. I mean I don’t look at a piece of gear and go OH COOL IT HAS HASTE ON IT…
and yes the post you responded to was me being total facetious
Ah. Yeah I just get annoying memories of wasting time on ask mr robot to get my hitcaps when I started to really care to play.
Most they can do is crucible style gear or make more micro-sets.
