Traits aren’t random.

Every item has preset traits and you can look them up on the dungeon journal or wowhead.

Loot doesn’t do anything special. All our loot are essentially math problems. They have nothing but numbers on them. So other than your actual dps increasing, nothing about your character changes.

While I agree with most of your points, and its not quite the same as set bonuses, haste % for me as a Havoc DH, determines whether or not I will get another 1-2 Annihilations (Chaos Strike) after my second Death Sweep (Blade Dance) before an Eyebeam-induced Metamorphosis ends.
